Fixing a red card in Southampton v Man United would cost a fortune, yet the bookie would probably give the same odds on Solihull v Longchester Car COmpany United in the Rymans East Midlands Division 19..

agreed.

plus harder, surely, to find a prem player interested in risking his career for 70K. Far easier in the lower leagues, and less scrutiny too. Same rewards, less risk.

Fixing in non-league football won't happen as often due to the money levels. Chances of it ever happening is during international duty or around the winter months when most leagues in Europe and South America aren't in action.

Theoretically the matches to target are the Non-League cups (not the FA Trophy) where the fixtures are an inconvenience.

Reminds me of a game between Buxton United and Ashton United last year, the former above the relegation zone and the latter near top of the division. Ashton United go down to 9 men within the 1st half, the fouling looked rather suspect as if the players wanted to get sent off.

I'd imagine a player in the non-leagues found guilty would be banned from playing football for life, even at Sunday League level.

Suggestions that the Scotland-Nigeria international friendly match may be involved in something sinister. The game is going ahead despite this.

if they thought it was going to be fixed, they WOULDN'T announce before hand and miss the chance to catch people.

I thought that but then is it a case of prevention being better than the crime?

If Scotland win, then it's a definite fix.

The only thing I can think of is that its the Nigerians being looked at, and they want to stop it incase they try and fix at the WC.

if its Scotland being looked at, you let them do it and arrest afterwards.

Both sides being involved is highly unlikely.

Apparently, there is no speculation of fixing at all, but because the game is so meaningless and the type of game fixers usually target, they have decided to stop any potential approaches.

Nigeria's 2 own goals (one disallowed) looked very dodgy. They definitely seemed determined to score an own goal.

That was so blatantly dodgy but the goal was disallowed. 20 mins later a defender booted a cross into his own net. The first time didn't work so they made sure they scored an own goal in the end.

I've only seen the own goal that stood, and didn't look deliberate too me.
