I don't think he will. LVG is currently having Europe scoured for a new keeper. He seems to have accepted De Gea is bound for Madrid and sees Valdes as no more than a back up.

Not sure why Valdes would have joined Utd had he not been given the nod at the time that should De Gea move on, he'd take the gloves over.

To get fit again? I don't think Valdes will be number 1.

One weekend left and Hull need to win, and hope Newcastle lose. Pardew must be smirking in south London.

If I was Pardew, Id send Mike Ashley and the Newcastle Fan Club a picture of John Carver on a Christmas Card every year until I passed away.

I don't think Ashley would ever send one back. A stamp costs 25p.

Ashley seems to be more interested in Glasgow Rangers than Newcastle.

He's probably keen to sell I reckon although the price would need to go down if they got relegated.

The way LVG is speaking about De Gea it seems like they are expecting him to go. Stating that the decision is down to him. They have offered him a new deal but it seems like they don't expect him to stay.

Seems strange, i thought they would be saying they don't want him to go anywhere and hes not for sale. Perhaps LVG needs to release some funds to continue spending?

Perhaps they know they cant keep hold of him and are just going through the motions so as not to loose him on a free next year.

De Gea will only go to Real, so there will be no bidding war for him, so what realistically would United get for him?

Man United way of saying "lets make a deal Real" rather then Real do exactly what they don't want them to do, and simply sign him on a free from Christmas and he joins the season after for nothing.

To be fair, its win win for Real, lose lose for United..... Real will get him undervalue, Man United will probably have to spend the majority of his fee recouped on a replacement and aren't guaranteed he will be as good. The risk reward situation is nothing for ?Man United, every subsequent game he stays at United is money away from his value.

If its clear he aint signing a new deal then it makes sense to cash in.

We don't need to release funds. We're getting 75m from Adidas next year plus champs league money if we qualify.

It's for the second reason, he's gone because his heart is back in Spain and Van Gaal is just saying he's done all he can. We've offered him 200k a week supposedly. He's moving because of his girlfriend and family. In future we need to get these players some Manchester wives haha.

I want a Bale swap deal but that will never happen. With only a year left, we'd do well to get 20-30m which is crap as he's worth so much more than that. And we will have to spend that all on a worse keeper in Lloris. I hope we try for Cech.

I wish De Gea had signed a 5 year deal earlier in the season then left as then we'd get more. Although he's almost irreplaceable anyway like Ronaldo was. Difference is I guess, an amazing keeper to good keeper isn't as crucial as an amazing forward is to a good one. If that makes sense. We won a league with a less assured De Gea but a fit and firing RVP. As long as we buy and improve in other areas we can reduce the impact of losing him.

I guess the resolution to this problem is probably staring united in the face. I don't think its worth blasting money on Lloris when he is dodgy anyway, and Man United can compete if they strengthen other areas with a half decent keeping option, that much I agree with you, ddb.

Valdes is no world beater, but he did play in a team considered the best of all time, and has won 3 Champions Leagues and about 7 la liga titles......personally I think rather then United spending millions trying to get a keeper with obvious problems of quality (like a Lloris) why do they just not accept that they already have someone proven good enough to play in the most successful side in modern history, and stick with him?

After all, you never know with Real Madrid what can happen. Man United might get De Gea back in 12 months time because he let one ball slip through him, and the Real Madrid fans turn on him.

One only has to take Diego Lopez's example, a player at Villarreal who was as good a keeper as I have ever seen, simply immense...... but he didn't play like superman for half a season at Real and got shipped to Milan.

Really think United will get 20-30 mil for De Gea with 1 year left on his contract?

United would love that, but can't see it myself.

Anything under that, United would surely take the chances on keeping him and him signing a new deal

If it was 20mil, and he goes on a free next year. Then including his wages and of he plays every game then De Gea would end up costing United between300,000 to 500,000 every game

Some might say after this years performances he is worth that.
