You're joking aren't you, yellow for Sterling at worst, Valencia a definite red.

If the Ecuadorian had of gone in on Sterling like that, everyone would claim its a red...it was high, late, clumsy and dangerous. Lucky he didn't break a leg.

Italy played their strongest team as well. Luxembourg are ranked 112th.

Valencias reaction was poor...but ALOT would react the same way...its a meaningless game before a massive tournament and someone puts in a challenge that could easily break your leg...someone needs to have a word with Sterling, although his reaction was funny when Valencia started on him, not so hard when he isn't beating up women.

I have no doubt we have a better squad than Italy. Whether we'll do better in the World Cup is another thing...

There was a challenge by Smalling a little earlier that could have caused an injury if it hadn't been perfectly timed. Sterling was a little late and clumsy, got a bit of the ball but as usual the trailing leg cleaned him out. Not going to break his leg, but gave the prima donna the hump.

The difference was, the Smalling one was a 50/50 ball, although at the time, I did think it was a bit risky for a friendly..Sterlings was dirty and needless

Jack Wilshere got caught with a worse challenge after, and I don't think Erazo was booked for it. I personally think the referee has seen Valencia grabbing Sterling by the neck and has let that reaction judge the harshness of the foul, or has misinterpreted the action as both fighting. The foul was a solid booking, but no more, cant see how its a red. He may have thrown himself in quite hard, but its not really that reckless or malicious. Valencia should miss a world cup game for that reaction though, that was pretty uncalled for.

As for the game, have to say that "Woy" is really worrying me at the moment.

You have 4 years to prepare for a world cup, and two games before it starts you throw an attacking midfielder in defence, and watch as 7 mins goes by and your opposition exploit his channel to whip in the ball and score. Luke Shaw is getting the blame for being beaten, but its not his job to stop the runner on the other full backs side. Smalling was hopeless, Jones was hopeless, Milner was poor but I don't blame him.

I didn't really understand the usefulness in playing people outside the squad either? Its a World Cup Warm up, why was John Stones and Flanagan on the pitch when other players were in civvies?

They did this last few times, experimenting up to the very first game without settling on a XI. You had months to settle on it, just pick XI guys and let them gel together, picking others is just wasting valuable time.
