The Hokey Cokey is here again 2014-2015

The beautiful game!

If the supposed £34m fee for Shaw turns out to be true, I think it will be one of those transfers that works out for all parties. If he stayed at Utd his whole remaining career, it would only work out at £2m a season - an absolute snip. Whilst for us, we could do serious transfer business (at our level) with that cash.

Whilst I have no doubt that he will prove himself to be world class, Utd fans are going to bitterly disappointed to start with when they see his appalling crossing.

I think it was you or powelly who said he was a better defender than attacker.

I've certainly said it, yes.

He'll match any right winger in the PL for pace. He wont go to ground unless he knows he'll win the ball. He is seriously strong for a teenager - body of someone much, much older.

But going forward, all he can do right now is run. Can't shoot, can't cross, and his passes seem to be limited to simple one-twos.

Then 34 mil for a full back with those limitations is great buisness for the saints.

I'd rather have a left back that can actually defend like Shaw than someone that can only attack in Evra. If they can attack as well as defend then that's a bonus but too many full backs nowadays are basically wingers who can defend a bit.

Yep, Baines is one. In fact, he can't even defend a "bit".

I'm guessing Giggs will have had a lot of input in this and discussed with the boss probably prior to the WC. Can't see a manager like LVG just accepting the club making signings over his head and telling him to accept it.

Herrera was a deal that fell through 12 months ago, and Shaw was linked well before LVG took over, he was linked under Moyes.

Again probably both were recommended by Giggs. He probably suggested it to Moyes who agreed they'd be good signings.

Lallana to Pool for 25m seems like an amazing deal for the saints.

For United we still need another 2 players at least. CB and a midfielder or winger. Good signs so far. Finally spending the money we need to.

if Giggs had enough sway to spend over 50mil, he would of been made manager, its a director of football deal.
