Dawkins scored for Derby....
:clap
But Bournemouth and WBA each made TEN changes EACH for a match where the winner goes into the quarter-finals.
:?
This competition is fast becoming a second-eleven irrelevance. If the authorities abandoned it, then a winter break would be easy to schedule....

It wasn't until we played you in the league a few years ago that we realised you guys hated us, because none of us cared about you.

Bournemouth winning 8-0 got a good reception on Saturday, quite alot were talking about it as we were leaving, Portsmouth are hated, we only care what you do when we play you.

I think the people you work with are trying to wind you up.

Both the guys I work with are season ticket holders at Southampton and have been for years but for some reason have always enjoyed it when things have been going wrong at Bournemouth on the field and off.

I don't think Bournemouth fans hate Southampton I just think there's complete indifference. Theres no rivalry like there is with Soton and Portsmouth. I would suggest that fans of Portsmouth and Bournemouth are more genuine and locally based whereas alot of Southampton fans are plastic glory hunters who travel from outside the area.

Southampton fans can be quite arrogant since the last few years of coming up from League One. They hijacked the Seagulls boards at the time, posting absolute shite in all fairness, much of it was uncalled for and pretty annoying. I think before that Brighton fans had supported Southampton fans through their dark days, we went through it, we sympathised with it, and we were happy to see you come out and start doing well...... and got repaid by idiots trolling our boards and making disgusting remarks about homophobia, and pretending as if we were some big local rivals. It was actually quite sad at the time, I thought as South Coast teams with no historical rivalry it was personally nice that both of us had came back from the brink of bankruptcy and were doing well, and that we could both acknowledge that.

I think the majority of Brighton fans have huge respect for what Saints have done, and don't begrudge their success. Brighton fans also have supported Portsmouth through their dark times too.

Tbf though, I am not big into football rivalries. Palace v Brighton is really huge, it is under-rated how vicious a rivalry it is, but that is only because its a fake, made up rivalry, and people seem to want to give it non-existant breadth and gravity. Of course, I don't like Palace, their fans also are horrid with their arrogance and consistently homophobic chants, but apart from that there is nothing there.

Those people on your boards, don't represent Southampton fans nor the club though. Probably never been near St.Marys in their life...much like the "fans" of other clubs coming onto our sites.

I know we didn't like Brighton much in the L1 wars, but that was because of comments Poyet made about us and Adkins.

I'd suggest BMBs work mates only want Bournemouth to fail, to wind him up, only Portsmouth ( and now Liverpool ) are hated at St.Marys.

I know, and to be fair, that year Brighton fans were suddenly everywhere, trolling the hell out of neutral boards and arguing the toss about Saints. It came back to bite us hard, the club and its arsehole of a manager believed the extreme hype in themselves while Adkins and Southampton set about building something truly lasting. Incredible how far you went, while we are going back to square one now.

I don't think that year, or the year after, is lost on Brighton fans. A lot of older fans, not the ones who only showed an interest post-AMEX and wouldn't be seen dead in blue and white before, know we missed the boat. We won the battle, but got smashed apart in the war. That was Poyet's fault, his era of building for 1 or 2 years to get himself a Premiership job, it was all he cared about.

Best thing we ever did was to sack him while we was on MOTD. Take that you twat!

They aren't trying to wind me up personally its just the way they are. I'm not regarded as a die hard Bournemouth supporte in anycase I've only been going regularly for six or seven years. I'm not Bournemouth bred just moved here in the nineties and have only started really following Bournemouth in the last ten years or so.

I can only comment on the Southampton supporters I know and the idiot trolls that come on the Echo website but they may well be untypical of the average Saints fan.

I've never seen anything anti-Bournemouth at St.Marys ( unless we play you )

If anything its the other way round, we didn't realise there was a rivalry until we played you, and your fans were big headed about being ahead of us in the table

There is no rivalry from a Bournemouth perspective either, wasn't much that I was aware of even when we were both briefly in the same division. For instance when I'm at a game and the half time scores are being relayed over the loud speaker, there is only ever silence if Southampton are trailing, you would expect the odd cheer but there is never anything.

My comments were originally aimed at those Southampton supporters who are long term Bournemouth dwellers and seem to feel the need to put down the local team to justify their treacherous actions!

Not really because the League Cup is played midweek, most rounds are played before christmas and the final itself is scheduled during a normal fixture calendar on a weekend.

Unless if you're a lower league club, there is very little financial reward for progressing in the League Cup. £100k winners compared to £100m+ just for participating in the Premier League.

Sheff Utd through to the semis, Soton slip to fifth defeat in a row, what has happened to them?

Two absolute sitters missed.

Paying way too much respect to Liverpool and playing 6 guys who haven't kicked a ball in weeks.

That last chance was a poor effort. Shame, I was looking forward to a close game.

I know Liverpool are a class above our normal opposition but Bournemouth are a lot better than this.
