I'm guessing when Blatter walks free that the USA will only have a slightly better chance than us of getting a World Cup in the future.

Very hard to say. I think initially the monarch of Jordan had been credited with being open, and attempting to bring positive changes to a very poor political system.... but since, there have been widespread concerns that Jordan and the monarchy are pretty corrupt.

If Blatter gets voted in then Uefa will just have to break away.

Its an absolute joke and something needs to be done.

EUFA can take who ever wants to go with them, sure the USA will go as will some other countries. I notice Australia are not voting for Blatter again.

The moneys in Europe, and the corruption has spread it around to corrupt bodies through out the rest of the world.

Haven't heard anything about his plans. Seems his whole campaign is based on the fact he's not Blatter.

But it's unlikely he can be any worse than Blatter and do any more damage.

There are reports that the 2002 World Cup was fixed by FIFA to favour hosts South Korea. Their matches vs Italy and Spain are recognised to be two of the worst officiated matches ever.

Anyone who watched those games will believe that to be true.

I can't remember much about the Spain game but the Italy one certainly made me wonder.

England's poor showing in recent World Cups also has to be fixed, because at the beginning of every tournament we're all convinced they're going to win it.

Both were clearly fixed, I don't think anyone watching those at the time thought otherwise. Lightening can strike, but with the same team benefitting, and in back to back matches, sorry but too dodgy that.

The Spain match is the one where Hierro(?) scored the free kick which was ruled out for the reason that it hit a South Korean player on the head on the way to the goal, and constituted a foul on said player.... in Extra time Morientes also scored a header for a golden goal, only for the referee to disallow it because Joquain had stepped out of bounds before crossing it....even though he was miles away from the line.

The whole match was full of fouls and offsides against Spain that were never close.

At the time, everyone (and Italy) were convinced in foul play.....

The Italy one was well dodgy, though I'm not a big fan of their corrupt Football, so tough.

Just been googling the Spain match and I do remember it now. You could argue that Italy got what they deserve with their own game being rife with corruption but two wrongs don't make a right.

While we're at it, could Maradona's handball have been part of a fix? Probably clutching at straws but it makes you think.

Maradona just got away with it, thanks to a blind ref, and a keeper who couldn't jump.

The Italians had a perfect winning goal disallowed, and Totti was sent off for diving, when in reality he nearly had his leg broke off by a challenge.

The referee in question was suspended in Ecuador the following year when he played 15 minutes of injury time in a game with no lengthy or noticeable stoppages, until a certain team scored two goals to win a game.....

He was arrested 7 years ago smuggling 6kg of herion into New York Airport....

Safe to say he wasn't exactly a reliable and uncorrupt choice as WC ref

Apparently Blatter has said this morning that FIFA is not corrupt themselves, just individuals inside FIFA..... nothing wrong with FIFA at all

Does he think we are morons?
