I've always said that Carrick was far too over-rated in that position. Similar to how Barry was seen as being crucial to England's midfield a few years back. To me, it says more about the team than the player, that these players are seen as being so important in the first XI. If the teams had better players for that position, then they wouldn't get a mention. Morgan is at least twice the player Carrick is. They've done really well to beat Arsenal to his signature, assuming the Gunners don't come in with a whopping last minute bid (in terms of fee and wage).

Not far off £40m for him and Clyne. Another good summer's work, so long as we once again reinvest it well.

First of the two sales made official. Clyne gone for £10m to Liverpool, rising to £12.5m.

Only 12 months left on his contract. We wanted £20m for him, but we wanted to avoid losing him for nothing even more.

We purchased him for £2m, so it's still a very decent profit for us.

Anyone know when Sky and BT sports normally decide on their televised fixtures for the season?

If thats the case, then I guess you cant ask for more. Shame.... I like Clyne but I dont want Liverpool to do well.

Surprised they slipped that under the radar of some of the other top teams... quality player

Chelsea have Ivanovic and Azpilicueta.

City have Zabaleta and Sagna.

Arsenal have Chambers, Debuchy and Bellerin (and Jenkinson).

That only leaves Utd, and initially they were interested in Clyne. But by all accounts they've turned to Coleman instead. And rightly so, because Coleman is better.

Nor is there going to be for any of the promoted clubs or those towards the foot of the premier league table last season. I think all teams are contracted to appear a minimum number of times during the season. My interest wasn't about seeing them on the telly, in any case, its more to do with selecting games to try and get tickets for that are likely to be at 3pm on Saturday. Looks like I can go ahead and try and book home to Villa although it will be a mad online rush when they go on sale mid July.

Anyway cheers for the link Brendy.

All 20 teams get paid for being on TV ten times (£500k per match, I think). If any club is ultimately shown on TV 20 times, they get paid for 20 matches (ie 20 lots of £500k). If any club is ultimately shown on TV seven times, they still get paid the full minimum ten. So whilst financially it's in TV's interest to show everyone at least ten times (as that's what they're paying for), they don't actually have to.

In the case of the likes of Bmouth, SKY and BT are no doubt thinking that a lot of that ten game allocation would best be utilised in March, April and May, when the relegation battle is at its hottest.

Swansea City are subsidising away match tickets upon fans obtaining a club membership. Meaning the cost of a ticket will be no more than £22 adults, £15 concessions, £10 juniors.

Nice to see a football club using Premier League riches to the benefit of their fans.
