Premiership 2015/2016

The beautiful game!

It was a hell of an atmosphere first half, the West Ham team were well up for it. The crowd acted like a 12th and 13th player.

Things quietened down second half, Man U settled down, and it was a more even game.

Have Man U played well enough this season to justify a fourth place finish?

They were late because of what happened outside the ground.

You would have thought that with a game of that significant to the home fans they would have set off to the ground alot earlier to avoid the expected congestion around the ground.

I have seen some reports that suggest the West Ham fans were not filing into the ground, but congregating outside of it, along with a large number of non-ticket holders trying to get to the area around the ground to join in the party. This lead to huge congestion in the area and accounted for the bus struggling to get through a wall of fans. By all accounts the West Ham fans were purposefully blocking the way.

It had been suggested last night that even if United had been in the ground, the struggle for regular fans to get through the turnstiles and past everyone who had turned up would have led to a delay anyway. Which makes Sullivan's comments deflecting the blame on United seem even more ill informed.

Apparently by 1930 there was still huge numbers of fans struggling to get into the ground, and a delay was inevitable. Poor policing of the event has been suggested too.

There may well have been a kick off delay due to fan congestion, but if the bus had set off alot earlier they may have avoided having to squeeze through them and being subjected to the attack.

Not condoning the violence but it is something that should be anticipated at an event like this.

The bus did leave earlier than usual according to sources from the Guardian. They accounted for needing extra time but were caught in the misbehaviour of the supporters at the ground.

Also, it is emerging that David de Gea was pelted with missiles after both United goals, and that apparently a fan got on the pitch to confront him at the end.

I can't believe that alternative arrangements can't be made by those in charge to prevent these occurrences. Get the players off the bus somewhere else and get them to the ground serruptitiously.

Like Millwall fans, West Ham have a poor reputation.

The game was a good one by all accounts! Pity the behaviour of some the Hammer fans ruined the big night.
