Only a month to go until Euro 2016.

Hodgson has delayed naming his squad, for fitness reasons. Welbeck being one player in doubt.

First off, who will be in our squad, and then team for our first game against Russia?

Who's going to win it? the hosts? Germany? Spain, or even England? If Leicester can with the title............

Any dark horses? One of the home nations perhaps. There are bound to be a few surprises now we have 24 teams.

I for one, can't wait!

Is Wellbeck not out for the forseeable?

2 years ago I absolutely knew that England would be home after the group stage. This time I'm not so sure, but I suppose it depends on whether Roy goes with Rooney, Smalling and Sturridge from the off.

I'm hoping that he thinks outside of the box rather than stick with the predictables who've let us all down before

Welbeck is a big doubt according to the BBC

Wilshere and Henderson are still 'maybe's'

Got to go through a stack of group matches just to go from 24 down to 16. Dilutes the beginning of the tournament too much for me.

I'm trying to work out who qualifies for the knockouts

it looks like only the bottom teams and 2 of the 3rds will miss out, so England finally have a chance to play a KO match, for once

Similar to the world cup, Budget, though that has 8 groups, which makes it harder to get out of, unlike this tournament. England would have play like a bunch of wallies not to go through to the last 16.

Yes, footman, two from each group, plus the four best third place teams.

It's fine in the world cup because it's 32 down to 16, so a 50% cull after the group stage which attaches more importance to each game.

The group stages in the Euros are going to full of games between moderate teams with a 33% cull at the end of it, and the third game will involve a million and one permutations for qualification.

I must admit I prefer the old 4 groups of 4, two go through. Getting out of that group was always tough as there were, on paper, no or very few weak sides.

Me too.

This tournament isn't really going to start until the knockout stages.

Sad news for England, Arsenal and Welbeck.

Wow that's worse than I thought. I figured the Euros were a no-go but he'll miss a large chunk of next season too.

I have a sneaky feeling that Italia '90 was 24 teams with 3rd placers going through

might be kismet

could be semi's for England for the first time in 20 years

I suppose that depends on whether the wags are invited, though

;)

Well I didn't want him anywhere near the England squad, so I got my wish, but I'd have prefered him to just have been dropped so he could spend the summer enjoying himself on holiday somewhere (somewhere nowhere near the Euro's obviously)

I no longer build my hopes up on England's chances.

It saves a lot of stress.
