The Mourinho rumour has been around for months but it looks like he will actually be named Man Utd manager within days. LVG appears to be "moving upstairs".

Does this mean Charlton and Giggs will have nothing to do at Untied now?

It will be entertaining to watch what happens in Manchester next year.

Better that he leaves the club altogether. No way would him and Mourinho be able to work together.

Giggs also understood to be considering his options of staying on or looking for a management role elsewhere.

LVG and Mourinho have worked together before at Barca.

Long time ago though under different circumstances.

Seems ludicrous that Utd fans would not want Jose, but many seem unhappy about it.

The problem with Jose is that when things are going good, all is well. When they aren't he chucks his toys out of the pram. That incident with the female physio has changed a lot of people's opinions about him.

Time will tell I suppose. Trouble is if Jose fails...who next?

Jose has the uncanny ability to bring controversy with him, and a perception that he plays boring football. Chealski and Inter were not the most exciting teams to watch in Europe.

With Pep as a neighbour, Arsene still down south and a stronger spurs it might just all get a bit to much for him to keep calm. Its a shame Rafa didnt keep Newcastle up :laugh

There is also the baggage that comes with him, most notably his agent Mendes.

It will be really interesting to see who Jose wants to sign. One thing that is certain, it wont be boring at Old Trafford this season.

Another unedifying spectacle of managerial musical chairs. When they have to wait for the New York Stock Exchange to open you know that it's no longer a game fuelled and maintained by loyal local supporters - the aim is commercial success to make money and winning football matches a by-product.

As an aside will people remember that both Mourinho and Van Gaal were sacked in the same season?

Jose is a winner. Has he gone to a club and not won a title?

Most United fans who are against this are basically saying 5th is acceptable.

Short term managers is the way it is now.

Yep. Sir Alex is pretty much the only successful long term manager in recent times. Expect every club will change managers every few years.
