For our friends in the North-East, I see Spennymoor Town have reached the Evostik Premier League playoff final and are to host Stourbridge for a place in the National League North.

Should be an intriguing contest.

Rafa will attract good players to come. I think he'll take Newcastle places myself. Assuming ashley gives him resources

Only Newcastle could get promoted and then 36 hours later be investigated by HMRC and have their managing director arrested!

I dont think i would be the only person to say that West Ham have taken more than enough tax payer money. If guilty relegate them with their lovely new tax payer funded stadium. After the Tevez scandal, London Stadium and now this, it would be great to finally see West ham get a proper punishment.

I seem to remember Swindon being relegated for fraud many years ago. Though this might end up being totally different.

I thought about that earlier today, when i heard the news. Couldn't remember what it involved though... only that the poor fans thought they were getting promoted to the PL and ended up being relegated to league 1 instead. Was Hoddle the manager?

I know nothing about today's raids, but it seems to involve the french somewhere down the line and Newcastle signed a plethora of young french players a few years ago

and I know nothing at all about Charnley... except to say that he has always struck me as a bit of a knob

1990 for Swindon, it seems. so it wasn't the PL it was div 1, and they were demoted 2 divs for making illegal payments for players. It was later reduced to a one div relegation.... and it was before Hoddle

Spurs were deducted 12 points for financial irregularities one season and took the case to court and won the points back.

I seem to remember a sweet Lord was heavily involved.

I'd guess it will be a long time before these investigations are concluded and charges brought so could be a while before any penalties are made.

I believe Swindon got relegated for tax reasons, not for illegal payments. Hiding money from tax man.

That led to a really bizarre situation because they actually beat Sunderland in a playoff final at the time it was quite clear they were guilty. I think the relegation occurred not long after the game, within the week.

Sunderland wanted Swindon to beat Blackburn to make the final because by that stage it was seen as a double sided ticket to div 1. Lose or win, Swindon weren't going up.

So the old man who went said the Sunderland fans turned up just for the party. They lost 1-0 I think, in a game dominated by Swindon simply because Sunderland didn't even try. Apparently some sunderland fans even cheered Swindons goal.

And yes, low and behold Swindon were punished straight after the game.

Poole Town and Hungerford both failed to overturn the decision to disallow them from taking part in the play offs this season. Wealdstone have previously been deenied so Hampton and Richmond in seventh place walk into the remaining position.

Darlington FC also failed in their appeal in NLN.

Looks like rules will be changed from next season but for this they're all buggered!

I see the authorities are investigating Huddersfield's team selection policy, after Tony Mowbray started mouthing off. It strikes me that Huddersfield, by guaranteeing a play off place, have earned the right to rest key players ahead of the play offs if they so wish. That Blackburn are in a bit of sh1t is a situation entirely of their own making....... should have won a few more matches Tony... if Blackburn get relegated it is entirely their own fault
