Another rant from Jeff Stelling.

He was on our fans footy message board last week. I'm guessing he'll be on there again tonight.

Maybe? Would be nice!

Great win today.

it seems that stuttering Newcastle might not have to do a damned thing to get promoted. The teams with a chance of catching them keep on losing. I think that, as it stands, Newcastle now only need one win, but I imagine that assumes that Huddersfield and Reading will win all of their remaining games and that looks unlikely

well... nobody else wants it, so Rafa can probably send his senior players away on holiday and have a look at his 2nd and 3rd choice players... sod all to lose.

the real question is will the fat knack cough up enough money for Rafa to resist West Ham (even the fat lad doesn't have enough money to stop Rafa going to the Arse if Wenger gets the bullet)?

My local team, Poole Town, got promoted into National Lrague South last season and are currently sitting in the last playoff place. A few weeks ago they were nailed on playoffs but sadly recent results have been poor and they might get pipped by Hungerford.

Mind you probably won't make any difference as the powers that be have decreed that they can't take their place in the play offs due to ground deficiencies. They have spent quite a bit on upgrades this season just to stop them being thrown out of NLS.

Surely Poole Town's ground can't be worse than North Ferriby United's - Grange Lane just has one small but long stand. Two thirds seating only 5 rows high and either side has covered terracing. The other side just has low buildings for changing rooms, clubhouse, toilets and kiosk. Though they have just recently built another toilet block and kiosk.

I believe if clubs need to make alterations to their current grounds, they can still win promotion to the National League providing work is compete by 31st March the following year.

I live equidistant from Poole FC and AFC Bournemouth, about 4 miles either way, but I've only been to the Tatnum ground a couple of times and not in recent years. They've come up about five tiers in the past 10 years and in all that time have been constantly looking for new premises. They wanted to build a ground on the recreation ground around 400 yards from where I live around 5 years ago, but opposition from local residents meant the application to do so was refused. The place where they play now was at the bottom of the playing fields where my daughter went to school briefly and is a bit of a dump. They've constantly had to find money to upgrade as they've gained promotion, but it looks like they do not fulfill the criteria for having sufficient covered seating to be allowed to compete in the playoffs this season, although they are appealing. I only discovered today that the team they they are competing against, Hungerford, are in the very same boat. I have a feeling it has led to the poor recent form of both clubs as they both realise there is little point in striving to reach the play offs spots when they can't ultimately take their place in them. A well known player to come from the ranks of Poole Town in recent times is Charlie Austin!

Just heard Dave Jones has been sacked which is good news but too late to save us.

Now if only our owners would get out.

Matthew "Back off" Bates as caretaker manager

Makes the Jones sacking utterly pointless

Right now I'd rather have an amoeba in charge than Jones. Some of the stories coming out about his time here have been shocking to say the least.

Well done to Newcastle and the likeable Rafa Benitez on promotion. No north east derbies to watch though, as the Boro and Sunderland look doomed.

they did it, then?

Newcastle fans need to bottle what they are feeling atm. I doubt it'll last much into the new season

they'll be calling for Rafa's head by November

Assuming Arsenal win the cup and don't snatch him away in the summer
