Greg Dyke was saying after one of the World Cup failure reports he overseen that U-21 teams from bigger sides should be intergrated into the football league setup, as its better they play.

Apparently it's "part of the EFL's long-term commitment to help the nation produce more and better homegrown players"
Which is utter bobbins, as the EFL Trophy invite is limited to clubs with a Category 1 Academy. Whereas clubs with a history of developing players (Leeds United) are not eligible to play in the competition because of criteria.
U23 Head Coaches claim it's good for the experience, playing in front of crowds in a 1st team environment and to bridge the gap between age group football and senior football. In terms of playing in front of a crowd, there is a noticeable difference of playing in front of 1500 fans for a 3rd rate cup tie and 18000 for a League One game.
