Origi and Sturridge is not bad for Liverpool reserves, and Danny Ings has returned from injury.

Couple of Derby games tonight. West ham and Chealski would both be happy to win. No Europe taking up game time for them, so would imagine they would be taking this trophy seriously. West ham lead continuing their turn around in form.

Obviously the big game is in Manchester. You imagine either manager would be happy to be out of this cup. But that would mean 6 games with out a win for Pep, or Jose loosing to pep again. So both managers will want to win. Jose seems to have put out a full strength team, Pep less so.

And then their is Saints vs Sunderland. Sunderland would take a win from anywhere. Saints probably wont mind leaving the league cup and prefer a longer run in Europe?

Paul Pogba for some reason reminds me of Carlton Palmer, look similar facially, and have the same languid running style.

Man C have gone 1-0 down in their last 6 games.

Sterling has gone back to being his usual shite self!

really disappointed with Utd again - the first 15 to 20 mins of the second half showed what we can do when we play with intent and aggression, but once we got the goal we want back to passing backwards, playing conservatively and just let City get comfortable again. Wrong mindset, and it's that defensive mindset that is costing us.

Sky quick to point out it's the first time Pep has gone six games without a win like it's relevant.

home to West Ham next up in the QFs - I guess at least we aren't away to Arsenal or Liverpool so could have been worse

Couldn't have asked for a much nicer draw than Hull away (Hull at home perhaps!). Huge chance to reach a semi-final, something I didn't think I'd ever see again!

I reckon if you ask a Geordie kid who their current favourite player is, I bet they would say Matt Ritchie.

Rafas pretty good at putting cup runs together. Has a habit of taking unfancied teams to cup trophies.

You never know how far it might go.....

Ritchie has been fantastic for us this season, very quickly becoming a fans favourite! I just love how every player seems committed to the club and we no longer seem to have players that view us as a stepping stone in the way Sissoko and Wijnaldum did.
