I notice since I mentioned Laurent Blanc last night his odds shortened a fair bit.

Harry will do, just to oversee England's World Cup 2018 campaign.

Maybe get a German manager. They seem to get to the final of most tournaments regularly. Must be doing something right so let's find out what the secret is.

I'm not sure it's simple though. Of all the English contenders/possibles, Eddie is the one who I think might say no. He has a nice little set up going on at Bournemouth, I don't know if he'd like to walk away from that (again). Also his reputation is not yet set enough in stone to deal with failure as England manager, were that situation to arise. McLaren has never recovered, with no stellar CV to fall back on.

I've never understood why it has to be an English man. Just look at our cricket and rugby teams, and the difference it has made bringing in top coaches regardless of nationality.

I'm not saying that it's my first choice, but of everyone mentioned so far, a Hoddle-Shearer team has some appeal to it.
