Likely: Gareth Southgate
I'd go for: Gary Neville
Dark horse: Guus Hiddink

Not sure why Southgate is the bookies favourite.

He has no proven track record.

I notice since I mentioned Laurent Blanc last night his odds shortened a fair bit.

If that's the choice, god help us.

Southgate would be a typical FA appointment, much like Roy was.

As for Roy. He did up until last night, get our team playing attacking football but buggered it up when the tournaments came around.

I'd go for Howe.

Give it to Harry, even if it's only a week.

Make him a very happy man.

I'm still peeved at the way Hodgson was able to crawl away without facing the music.

Paid all that money, and doesn't face up to questions when things have gone wrong.

Some people touting Glenn Twaddle.

Hasn't managed a football club in over 10 years, good choice, plus he'll have Mystic Meg back in the changing room.

Harry will do, just to oversee England's World Cup 2018 campaign.

Maybe get a German manager. They seem to get to the final of most tournaments regularly. Must be doing something right so let's find out what the secret is.

They could have Guardiola or Mourinho in charge, but as Danny Baker would say, the players are still fvcking shite.

I'm not sure it's simple though. Of all the English contenders/possibles, Eddie is the one who I think might say no. He has a nice little set up going on at Bournemouth, I don't know if he'd like to walk away from that (again). Also his reputation is not yet set enough in stone to deal with failure as England manager, were that situation to arise. McLaren has never recovered, with no stellar CV to fall back on.

I've never understood why it has to be an English man. Just look at our cricket and rugby teams, and the difference it has made bringing in top coaches regardless of nationality.

I'm not saying that it's my first choice, but of everyone mentioned so far, a Hoddle-Shearer team has some appeal to it.

Harry almost fell off his chair when told about Southgate.

Roy Hodgson didn't understand why he had to face the press today, as he had said everything the night before.

He said f all the night before, not a word about the game, just read some pre written statement.

What a complete and utter tw@t.

Martin Glen, a member of the three man panel tasked with choosing the new England manager, says he's no football expert!
