I'm not sure it's simple though. Of all the English contenders/possibles, Eddie is the one who I think might say no. He has a nice little set up going on at Bournemouth, I don't know if he'd like to walk away from that (again). Also his reputation is not yet set enough in stone to deal with failure as England manager, were that situation to arise. McLaren has never recovered, with no stellar CV to fall back on.
I've never understood why it has to be an English man. Just look at our cricket and rugby teams, and the difference it has made bringing in top coaches regardless of nationality.
