Premiership 2017/2018

The beautiful game!

I think we will finish last. Didnt invest enough cash in the squad, got a manager who plays 11 men behind the ball at home to a side who shipped shedloads of goals last year. The very few times Brighton got the ball in the final third, that backline looked shaky. Kompany especially looks cooked, he got burnt early in the second half by Stephens, not that quick, about three times.

But yeah, being so defensive that you dont even throw any commitment to counter attacks, then you are basically saying 0-0 is the best you can hope for in most games. So you play high risk for a point, and hardly ever win?

Brighton season will come down to how much balls Hughton has in those middle table to low league clashes. If he is willing to try and win them, we stand a chance. If he goes away to the Burnleys of this world and sets up like that, well be relegated by March. Judging on his last journey in the prem, it will be the latter.

I think its flattering Budget. We played 10 men in defence, and failed to keep them at bay. Dunk and Stephens made huge errors (Dunk twice, Aguero should have ripped the net off with his first 1 v 1) that should have lead to goals. The keeper drops the second goal into the net.

Going to be a long season

It's funny, all smaller club supporters aspire to have our teams get to the Premier League, and when they do, is it really that much fun?

The best most of us can ever hope for is mid table obscurity, not even Leicester's miracle will change that mindset. The whole season is spent trying to get to the magic 40 points, and it is mostly torturous not enjoyable.

I can't get to games anymore, and won't be able to until they get relegated.

I still look at Bournemouth's current position as being a minimum of three seasons of not being demoted into the National League!

IMO staying in the Football league is more important than staying in the premier league. Like you say, most teams are their fighting for their lives by, like Brighton, putting men behind the ball and not playing Football.

United are looking good, but i wonder if West Ham might also be a relegation scrap this year.

Not sure they have invested enough in the last 2 seasons. Even though there is the new TV money and that ridiculous deal they have for their state funded ground.

West ham have looked very poor today, and considering its the first game of the season, that has to be a worry.

Lukaku having a great debut :salute

85 premier league goals before he went to United. At 24 he might end up breaking some records.

Does not seem to be the case. Just left out. Can not fault the decision going by how the game has gone.

Huddersfield's reign at the top of the PL was a short one.

I think Hart and Hernandez are two good signings for them. Like Bmouth, they have strengthen arguably the two most important positions on the pitch - a man to score goals at one end, and a man to keep them out at the other.

But I don't at all rate the signings of Zabaleta (past it) or Arnautovic (only shows up once in a blue moon, too selfish, doesn't put a shift in).

I must admit that I was only keeping half an eye on the game, but apart from his goal did he have that good a game?
