yuppie wrote:What is Ashleys plan though. The premeir league has way more money in it now, and he seems to be trying to balance the books with last years spending. With the new TV deal, and Newcastle money making transfers from previous seasons, you would think that the Toon have a fair bit to spend? Or am i missing something?

Rafa must be going crazy.

I think he is.

However he has a clause in his contract that would see Ashley rake in a sizeable pot if Rafa goes, whilst Rafa gets a big pay out if Ashley sacks him, so I don't think Rafa will walk, but neither do I think that another club wanting to make Rafa their manager would be deterred by having to pay Ashley compensation to secure Rafa's release.

Once the managerial merry go round gets under way, I think Rafa will become a prime target for a club with bigger ambitions than Newcastle. Then again I thought he would go when we got relegated, and when he didn't, I became convinced that he would go to a bigger club before the end of last season, so what do I know?

He's got to, surely. There is no need for him to put himself through a relegation battle with a very limited squad. With his CV, he could walk into any number of jobs in the future. So the last thing he wants is to damage that in any way.

Of course stick it out for another 11 days. Who knows what they might do in the market. But without significant strengthening, he's got to walk on 1 Sep.

Isn't it more of a case that their opponents do!

Alot of teams are going to get a lift purely down to the venue.

I can't remember Spurs winning any Euro games there.

I read yesterday that in the last 10 games spurs have played at wembley, they have lost 8, drawn one and won one. Thats relegation form :rasta

For once I can see why Wenger felt a little aggrieved after the Stoke game. Arsenal should have had one pen, and possibly two. As for MOTD. They mentioned how the ref got the calls right in the saints - hammer game, but didn't show the incident where west ham should have had a pen.
I suppose video replays will make for most errors, but I still don't want it.

That was a soft second yellow for Walker, nothing in it.

Reaction of the Everton player probably clinched it.

So far the Rooney transfer seems to have worked for Everton.

Second season, how long a rope does Pep get?
