Women's football

The beautiful game!

So many empty seats! Why not give them to local children for free or at the very least reduce ticket prices?

Not many people are going to pay £45-£60 for a Women's group match. I want to go to the GB match at Wembley on Tuesday but i'm not too sure it's worth paying £45...

Went to Cardiff yesterday but only watched the first game. Never seen women's Football live before. Have to say that they showed total commitment but the passing and decision making, especially in the final third was the main difference between the men and women.
Nice expereince to see an Olympic sport even though the ground, which was magnificent was only 20% full.

That question has been asked and the answer was that it would be wrong to do that. Imagine you've paid £60 for your seat to find the guy sitting next to you got in for £20. You wouldn't be happy.

Apparently 75,000 tickets have been sold for their next match, vs Brazil at Wembley.

I've been pleasently suprised by the womens football team, in fact they could teach the men a few things in terms of keeping possession.

Its also good to see all UK regions involved in the team, unlike the mens where the Scotts refused to allow thier players to be picked. Hopefully the Scotts will see the benefit of having a 'Lions' team just as they do in Rugby and allow their players to be available for selection.

QF results:
Sweden 1-France 2
Usa 2- New Zealand 0
Japan 2- Brazil 0

GB and Canada face off soon but I'm surprised to see that Japan beat one or the favourites for a medal in Brazil.

Cananda leading GB by 2 goals with 66 minutes gone. The first goal was quite brilliant but the wall really was poor for Canadas second goal.

Didn't Japan win the Euro's last year? (Or was it maybe even the World Cup?). I'm sure they knocked out the great Germany along the way, which is why they aren't at these Olympics.

Add in the fact that we beat Brazil the other day (so clearly they're not invincible), and maybe it's not a surprise.

They won the world cup, by beating either the Usa or Germany in the final. I'm surprised by the result because Brazil were one of the favourites for gold. France are next for Japan and if they keep up the form they have every chance for the gold. Canada V Usa looks like it'll be quite tasty though.

Suggesting that Japan won the Euro's. Yeah good one. :facepalm :slap

I'm sure they knocked Germany out in the QFs of the WC.

You're correct. They beat Germany 1-0 a.e.t in the quarters and the Americans in the final.

I'm sure I'll work it out eventually

bit dim, you see

I couldn't spot tactical brilliance if it snuck up behind me and gave me a slap :slap
