Talk about a totally rigged match. All hail FIFA, especially if you are Brazilian.

Nah penalty was deserved she didn't play the ball she obstructed the brazilian girl completely. But the retake was a big mistake.

Your on your own there Keshto. They just replayed it with the analysts and they all said she flayed at the ball, and she clearly did. :facepalm

To rub salt into the wounds Brazil score an offside goal, although I exspect you will tell me it wasn't offside.

Don't get that saying by the way salt actually is good for wounds.

The result however you look at it is totally injust. USA should have won this at 90 minutes.

Both players were holding each others hands by the way in the penalty decision.

Even the neutral fans are still whistling at the Brazilians.

I really wasn't shocked by the penalty, retaking it was an error.
Didn't see the offside. but I trust you.

I would have prefered facing brazil, we would have a good chance of going to the finals, the Americans were really superior to the brazilians and at 10 against 11 they dominated Brazil in the ET

Unsurprising given Hope Powell had to repeatedly ask for volunteers to take a penalty.

The USA and France both played the better football in normal and extra-time, and they both deservedly won on penalties....
:salute
I watched the France-England match in Paris, and I must say it got a lot more media coverage than the England women's team has received in England for this World Cup campaign.

So, USA vs France next....

Much as I will be cheering for France, I can't help feeling that the Americans are too strong for the remaining three teams. I think that only Germany had the team to beat them, but the Japanese put them out.

How did the USA beat France?

Hats off to the French players they must be wondering what the hell happened. From about the 15th minute until the USA scored the 2nd goal France looked in control and heading for an upset.

Hats off to the USA to....never say die.

Wow the Japanese looked really good. The final should be a beauty, and the USA will have to play their best ever to get past the little ones.

Five North Korean players have failed dope tests.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14173682.stm

What really happened was that these five players were struck by lightening, causing havoc with their hormone levels, thus creating the illusion that they were using banned steroids!

Congrats to Japan.

If I thought Daren Clarkes win in the Open was one of the greatest achievemnets of the century then I don't know where to put this one.
Outplayed, outshot, beaten all ends up really, but the won. :clap

The USA girls must be gutted. Poor tactics every time they were ahead, they should have just gone for it. The panic in the defence at times had me on the floor laughing :facepalm

I have to say though the womens game is pretty exciting. :salute
