Well I think we won but unable to tell as I was out shopping so the intention was to keep up to date on the Sky football app.

Trouble is they weren't interested in something as trivial as the 4th Qualifying roynd but were happy with the early stages of the Scottish Cup.

So at least I was able to know that part time teams North of the border such as Civil Service Strollers and Edusport Academy would take no further part in this season's competition.

Fellow North East side Shildon AFC reached the 4th qualifying round and held Guiseley at half-time away from home, before losing 6-0. Decent cup run from them and the proceeds will go far into replacing their main stand. Though the current one is stuff of legends where the bar and changing rooms are in the bottom half, then seating at the top half.

I think the only shock of note is Barnsley outfit Shaw Lane Aquaforce of the Evostik Premier League beating National League side Barrow.

SLA for short?

Sounds like another Total Network Solutions, although I guess Shaw Lane is the road where the club is based.

Think the Aquaforce moniker had to get dropped due to FA/League rules.

Shaw Lane is a sports facility in Barnsley just off J37 of the M1. Yorkshire 2nds sometimes play cricket there, though the football team were based at Barnsley Rugby Union but now groundshare with Athersley Recreation.

I found out something I didn't know about the FA Cup...

In the early 70s the competition had a 3rd place play off.

This only lasted for about 5 seasons.

The mighty East Thurrock United potentially have Doncaster Rovers at home...huge tie for us!

Bradford host Chesterfield, can think of far worse ties to get.

I think it will be a tougher match than it looks as our defence will be weakened due to injuries and players cup tied. Chicksen is out for the forseeable, McMahon may not be fit in time, Hendrie, Field and Thompson are loanees from Burnley, Brentford and Bury respectively.

I see that the honour of knocking Newcastle Utd out of this year's FA Cup in the 3rd round goes to Luton Town

I can't remember the last time Newcastle didn't get knocked out at the earliest possible stage. Feels like years and years and years

There's a bit of trouble brewing at anfield tonight. I'll be really disappointed if it's true.
