I suppose the biggest worry for me, is that refs might find their stones shrinking and end up doing what cricket umpres do and just refer everything to the VAR. decision making by video rewind

Another big problem with VAR is when we don't have it and a perfectly good goal is ruled out by the officials incompetence, as we've just seen in the Cardiff v Man C game.

Means that games in a particular competition are judged differently which can't be right.

At least in the premier league the goal line decisions apply to every single game in the competition and not just the tv games.

That disallowed goal by Silva tells me exactly why we need VAR. If it can work in rugby it can work in football.

I would rather put up with a three or at worst four minute delay and get the right decision than see a perfectly good goal ruled out that could have been corrected by the technology.

VAR would have had the defender who just scythed down Sane red carded.

I would have sent him off for denying a goal scoring opportunity with a cynical foul just outside the box, but replays show that the tackle was studs up straight down his leg, and worthy of a red anywhere on the pitch.

Is it true that he got a yellow card for that, which now means nothing can be done about it?

Genuine horrific tackle that was late and one can only think that he intentionally went out to hurt Sane.

That is what you get with a Warnock team.

DF, your into the next round. Dont watch that either. Just listen to us here. By may i can see Newcastle being FA cup winners:))))

rumour is that Ashley is going to offer Batshuayi 100 quid a week to sign for Newcastle, but he'll have to be quick as the offer is only valid until midnight tonight

the bestest, most valuablest trophy in the whole, wide world. Worth so much money that we've set ourselves the target of winning it every 2 years for the rest of the century

its a lot more interesting than mid table mediocrity with owners who are seriously incompetent. Mike is comically bad but had nothing on Fawaz.

Again, not the most interesting of draws for the neutral, though a possible Millwall v Spurs might be lively.
