The beautiful game!

there we go

England were excellent in the first half, but after half time it was all Croatia. The only surprise for me was that Croatia didn't score their winner in normal time

Well done England, though, it has been a terrific tournament for them and from them

Bugger.

I guess the old cliche about a game of two halves holds true. Well done Croatia - hard to argue they didn't deserve it. After Trippier's early effort, England had one more shot on target the entire game, and Croatia dominated from half time onwards. So much for extra time favouring England. In the end, they didn't quite have the class, endurance or experience to see it through.

Still, I'm not too disappointed - England have had a tournament that far exceeded expectations, and the vast majority of the squad will still be around in 4 years, and should have got even better.

ahead of this tournament, I said that I would be happy if England didn't embarrass us, won a KO match and didn't go out on pens.... well they did all that and so much more.

England may be out, but I'm very, very happy. Proud of them... they were brilliant

It would be nice to see how England's first team go against Belgium's first team, but I imagine that both sides will be made up of squad players

ITV's run continues.... down to 8% now, probably

Kane's worst game for England.

France would have taken us apart on Sunday.

Very decent tournament, still a way from being good enough to win a major tournament.

Chav morons up the road are now going to keep the whole street awake for the next 3 hours.

Yep Mbappe needs a hatrick in the final and there's still the third place play off for Kane to add more goals, if he plays!

I just hope that having exceeded everybody's expectations they don't get a load of negative press.

England had a good run, beat the teams they should have, but in the end lost to 2 better teams in Belgium and Croatia.

The problem now is that England will expect again, and im not sure England can be better than this. They beat the teams they should have, which is something they have not done for a long time, but they still lost too the good teams they faced.

Croatia are no great team, but when you don't press and give 20 yards of space to the best deep lying playmaker arguably in the game to put the ball into areas where men are completely unmarked or unpressured....

Sh*t. Said it 50 mins in.sat back colombia, let them play, same thing.

Southgates rubbish. Time to go

Or midfield was condensed so centrally, we allowed modric space then gave him a byline pass to crossing positions every time he wanted it, because the wing backs were on the edge of the box and Alli or lingard were both centrally positioned every time.

And so Croatia got endless pops at the box. And second half they dominated.

This was a bit like a batsman edging his first 10 balls, the a captain moving his team to th boundary around the square.

Rubbish. Southgate doesn't understand tactics and should be sacked nstantly
