FIFA are apparently investigating the England game VAR system, as it seems now acknowledged that something drastically went wrong.

Having seen all the teams in the first round a lot of the favourites have stumbled at the first hurdle.

IMHO the team that looked the best was Belgium knowing that they have another gear. Yes Spain vs Portugal was an exciting match but both defences looked porous.

Let's see what the second round brings.

I thought England were excellent in the first half. From what i have seen so far, thats the best a team has played at this world cup.

Yep. I was a bit worried about Maguire after the friendlies, and then again in the first 20 mins yesterday, but after that I thought he was excellent... certainly going forward.

Judging by the number of chances that England squandered I can easily see Rashford being the first choice partner for Kane by the end of the tournament

I'd bring in Rose for Young against Panama. Sterling was also poor but he is a threat, and I like Rashford coming on as an impact sub. Our bench is actually pretty good, even compared to Belgium's.

I'd have Rose too, but to be fair, Young's set piece deliveries were pretty decent on the whole... probably better than Trippier's
