Over to us.... god I am nervous. The final would be good, to win it a dream.... but the final! It could change so much for the future belief and structure of the game. We've done well, better than anyone thought, and losing tonight would be (after a day or two) not paint over that. But the final... god please let it happen.

Glory hunters and plastic fans aside, how many football (or even sports) fans have experienced their team reaching the final of a major competition?

I mean really experience the final - savouring the pre-match excitement, tension, nerves, getting into the spirit, the euphoria (and disappointment). This just happens once or twice in a lifetime.

Awaiting this with a few nerves as well as (controlled) optimism. I think it will be tight ; and the fact that Croatia have had to go twice to the full 120 + pens might just give England the edge...hoping so.

Going to miss my calming scotch intake I'm afraid today as I'm watching this one from my hospital bed - rather a badly timed operation booked when an England semi final was an unlikely fantasy :)
At least TV reception in here is good and the op seems to have gone well . Trust England will do so too...

Yes, speedy recovery Alfie. At least you'll remember where you were.

you see, I'm experiencing the exact opposite. There seems to be so much over-confidence going on, that I've become convinced that tonight is going to go horribly wrong.

It started with blooming Shearer on breakfast this morning, describing how he was so nervous before the Sweden game that he couldn't sleep and then going on to say that he'd slept like a baby last night because he was so confident of England making the final

Ferdinand saying he was so confident he felt that England were going to win 3 or 4 nil

All the cr@p all over the media.... it's almost as if Croatia have already been beaten, and I'm afraid that I'm just not built that way.... I always play down these things.... so afraid of jinxing them.

You'd never know that Croatia are the better team on paper, or that they have so much more experience

I hope I'm wrong

very, very scared

and I was told last week that when England play a KO match on ITV they win 9% of the time.... on the BBC they win 60% of the time

skewed, of course by ITV's pursuit of the first KO match in every global tournament.... the results of which have been horrible for a decade or more

Should be 2. And not offside, took the ref ages to flag. Should have been a corner. Strange.

Young is presently having a shocker, seems really off the pace.

A lot of excellent link up play from England (against some horror defending). Reminded me of v Holland in '96, but without the end product. But looked easily capable of shipping one at their end.

England forwards not finishing well.

England will come to regret not taking their chances sooner or later.

Gary Neville is a hopeless pundit. He even makes Wrighty look like he's got the sober insight of a football Jeremy Coney.
