The beautiful game!

Just read that Sánchez touched the ball once in his 12 minute cameo against City.

And that's another 350,000 this week well rewarded.

I never rated Sanchez as largely as some, and thought City did well to avoid signing him on the basis I didnt think he improved them in any regards..... but Sanchez should have still been a solid signing for United. Its amazing how far his game has dropped off the cliff.

Beware giving 30 year olds long contracts on life changing money?

and the impact those wages has had on the club is incredible. A benchmark was set, and Sanchez wont be going anywhere soon.

Yep. Unless another oil rich lunatic decides to set up a footballing project in Dagestan, or a Chinese billionaire wants to bring Sanchez to Beijing Goian, then he's going to be richest guy ever to train with an under-19 football team.

sussexpob wrote:Your boys on Saturday might relegated us, DFM. Got arsenal and city after, so we are screwed if Cardiff start picking up points, and we cant get a result at StJames

the thing that you have in your favour is that I'm convinced Newcastle will beat Liverpool and hand the title to Man C and I'm also certain that Newcastle will beat Fulham on the last day of the season. Newcastle have won their last 2 matches so to beat Brighton and still beat Liverpool and Fulham they'll have to win 5 on the spin, and that won't happen in a million years, so I think you'll get something out of the game tomorrow. Even a point will do you, because Cardiff might win 1 of their 3, but that won't be enough thanks to your infinitely superior goal difference. They might, at a pinch, even win one and draw one, but they will not win 2 out of 3, so get a point tomorrow and you'll be safe.

Part of me wants to beat Brighton because they are a bit of a bogey team for Newcastle, but I also have a lot of time for Chris Hughton (and I don't think I'm alone in that amongst Newcastle fans), so I'd like him to keep them safe as long as they don't repay that by sacking him in the summer.

I do think Brighton got a bit distracted by the cup run

Man C have won 11 matches on the trot, I think?

that's a phenomenal string of results, so it's no wonder that Liverpool (for all they've only lost 1 match all season) just can't shake them off.

when Spurs ended the quadruple hopes last week, it would have been easy for them to become distracted and lose their way just enough for Liverpool to win it, but the fact that they had to play Spurs again in their very next game, with the chance to exact a bit of revenge, was perhaps the one thing that could have guaranteed that they wouldn't lose focus in the PL....... Liverpool were probably a bit unlucky there

I read after the United game if they go to the end of the season with three victories, the last 20 league games would stand as won 19, drawn 1.....

What is crazy is, a team with over 90 points is going to finish second.... I would take a wild guess that in England, that has not happened for a while, if ever in the modern day.

the only thing comparable to that, for me, would be the Man Utd run to deny Newcastle back in 1996. The pressure absolutely got to Newcastle, so it is of immense credit to Liverpool that they haven't wilted yet. They will though....... next Saturday. It's written in the stars

although this would be a better achievement, because Utd could see Newcastle wilting ahead of them when they were chasing them down and Liverpool aren't doing that

Not sure. The Rafa connection with both clubs, and the apparent bromance between the two sets of fans that goes back to those legendary 4-3 battles in the 90s means that, if United fans were happy to cheer on City the other night, the opposite is true generally of Newcastle fans. When they beat you earlier in the year, the Newcastle fans were apparently cheering Liverpool on because of the friendship.

It wont be hostile.

For the record, I think Brighton should just about stay up. I couldnt see us sacking Hughton even if we go down, but its modern football, I am probably very wrong. Hes got a lot of respect at the club though, largely because hes not like most managers, a massive pr*ck

All the neutrals are hoping maybe Newcastle beat Liverpool, just so Klopp goes on radio and issues an impassioned rant :lmao

I think everyone was gutted for the Toon back in those days. What a fantastic fairtale it would have been..... there was so much to love about Keegans side back then. Played the game the way it should have been..... score goals, entertain, attack.... no diving, time wasting, shirt pulling or 10 men behind the ball trying to grind out 0-0s away.

Probably why they didnt win, but who cares.....

I think Utd got 89 points when they lost to City on the last day. That's the highest I can think of.

Imagine if Liverpool get 97 points and finish second. Mental!
