Inter's forward three were rubbish all night. Their defence did the job, and the central midfield got the ball out on the counter quick, but how many times during the 90s minutes did Inter have the forward 3 v 3 back line of City, and them not actually create any openings? Their tactics were really weird, they got the ball into the final third with space, and then just threw it long into the centre on a percentage ball that the CB is always winning.
At the end, City looked increasingly nervous, and at that point they made errors... Akanji left the ball to Eduardo, who left it to him, and Martinez ends up blasting it at the keeper with Lukaku running into the box for a tap in from a square pass. Crap from Martinez...
Then Dias (I think) lets that ball bounce in the box, and Di Marco's looped header somehow thunders onto the bar..... but what is Lukaku doing? He's half asleep, if he attacks the ball he wins that header and its 1-1. Instead, Di Marco has another tap in for 1-1, but Lukaku blocks the goal.
And then that miss at the end from Lukaku.... I'd expect someone in Sunday League under 9's to hit net 95% of the time from there. One of European footballs greatest misses. And then Dias nearly puts it in his own net. Eduardo hasn't even seen the ball, he has no idea where it is, and is lucky it hits him... but if Lukaku had put it half a metre either side of the goalie, its a goal.
City didn't deserved to win really. Inter had more of the chances.
