With all the drama and the continued hopeless recruitment at Newcastle Utd, I confess that I am not looking forward to the new football season at all. I'm so not looking forward to it that I might have a year long break from it. Never say never, I suppose.... Newcastle might get off to a flyer, who knows, but I have a sinking feeling that this season is going to be both hugely disappointing and dreadfully frustrating for everyone associated with the black and whites. The people tasked with squad strengthening seem to have learned nothing.... at all.... from the last time we had CL football

Probably best to just give it a miss and see where we are in a year's time

Liverpool start the season with a rollercoaster 4-2 win over Bournemouth.

Is Wayne Rooney the worst pundit on TV? I loved him as a player, well certainly the young version but he looked nervous every time he was asked a question on last night's MOTD and fumbled his words on a few occasions. Add to that, he didn't say anything of note!

I agree. Rooney is a terrible pundit.

Troubled Sheffield Wednesday knocked Leeds United out of the League Cup.

I suppose the difference between Man U and say Leeds or Sunderland is that the newly promoted sides changed pretty much their entire starting XI for the league cup because they have other fish to fry this year. By the start of the second half, Man U had pretty much their best XI on the field in a comp that realistically represented one of only two chances of silverware this season and still lost to a 4th div side

still.... at least the fans will have been able to buy some really fresh fish and chips for the journey home

I haven't ruled out Bradford knocking out a second string Newcastle XI in the next round, either.

Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal

Big statement early in the season.

Can't say I'm overly surprised to see levy gone from Tottenham....perhaps surprised at the timing but interesting to see how spurs go from here...could easily be, be careful what you wish for

feels like the fan base have wanted shot of him for years

talk is that Amanda Staveley wants in with a consortium not dissimilar to the Newcastle takeover
