Very strange signing from Barcelona. They had 4 players score over 20 goals last year, why do they need a player who did almost nothing last year? Gordon is tremedously overrated.

What a servant to the club. I thought he'd end his playing days in Union colours, but he's decided to try and play 1-2 years and maximise his earnings elsewhere. I get that for a 34 year old, and wish him great luck in his next adventure.

I guess it makes more sense than Gordon to Bayern would have done, which was the original interest. That assumes, of course, that Barca don't want to buy Rashford for £26m, which feels to me like a cracking price. That's really the bit that I don't get.... Rashford for 26 or Gordon for 70... not that Newcastle will be complaining. 70 covers the original price and all his wages for the time he spent at the club, even with Everton's 15% cut of the 25m profit

Gordon might thrive in Spanish football and I hope he does. I like him as a player and I wish him well. I also hope Newcastle inserted a sell on clause in his Barca deal because, at 25 years of age, he's young enough to fetch an even bigger transfer fee when he moves on again if he does really well for Barca

Of the 4 marquee players in last season's squad, Gordon would be the one that Newcastle fans would most happily accept leaving. Can they hang onto the other three? Bruno will stay, I think, and I'm hoping Tonali stays put, but I'm less confident about Livramento
