Question is would Rangers be able to play European football next season if they still remain in administration?

I beileve they will qualify if they come out of adminisitration before the end of March, or there abouts time wise.

this has been coming for awhile now but is still a big shock.

as someone who grew up in scotland its hard to explain just how big a part of scottish culture the old firm are, good and bad, and seeing one of them in this sort of trouble is incredible.

puts a whole new outlook on david murray's stewardship of the club as most of the tax-related wrongdoings were during his time as owner and chairman. i know celtic fans will probably be elated at these developments but with all the problems facing scottish football as a whole atm then this really could do irreparable damage to the game there.

i'm sure witht he fanbase rangers have that they will survive this but it could take a few years to turn this around and it also explains alot of why the sale of rangers to craig whyte last year took so long and why there was so little interest in a club with the history and infrastructure it has.

also there is already dwinidling intrest in SPL with it only being 2 horse race, when rangers have to offload best players for wage cuts, it will be one horse race :sleep

10 points deducted and they're still 9 points above 3rd place!

It's just a shame Celtic have won 10 on the spin and Motherwell not keeping tabs with the Old Firm.

Theres always next year as I don't think either Old Firm club are the force they used to be, so that SPL title won by a non Old Firm club will happen some day.

I'm amazed the fans haven't got hold of Craig Whyte and hung him from the nearest lamp post.

its not really craig whyte's fault tbh

he inheritted the situation from the previous owner and board

it was quite a long drawn out process when he bought the club and what we now know tells us why that was i think

I find it somewhat amusing that so many Celtic fans are elated by all this. Without Rangers, there seems little point to Celtic's existence as their inevitable victories will be akin to somebody called Kim winning a North Korean election.

Celtic are a bit unhappy at proposals being put forwward by the remaining 10 teams in the SPL, proposals that include more even distribution of revenue and voting changes. Looking at quotes from some of the SPL chairmen it does come across that they're getting a bit hacked off at the current power that the old Firm wield in SPL heirachy financially and politically. It'll be quite interesting to see if this develops into anything.
