That's true, perhaps he could get a higher ranked club abroad with his past CV, but he would definitely be a great appointment for Villa.

Yes Villa would love to have him. I would like a holiday in California but like Villa, I doubt I will get what I want.

The sack race next season, first prem manager to go in my opinion will be steve kean from blackburn, his record is poor and i cant see the new indian owners (who apparently didnt know about relegation) tolerate any early season poor form or failure to attract star players, so he will be gone.

My bet from the football league in the sack race is danny wilson, seriously he doesnt have a ounce of support from sheff utd fans he is already got fans wanting his head and hes been in the job a week he will get booed out of his own stadium on his first home game and if they have a poor start to the season then kevin mcabe whose club has had 4 managers in 12 months...quite a record.

I mean really? Well good luck to him but hes got a lot of hardwork to do and he could be severley underminded by some strong willed chelsea players, im not sure roman knows what hes doing here.

Ancelotti is one of the great managers of his era, but you might want to do some research on Villas-Boas before readily dismissing him as a lightweight. He's not greatly experienced but he has a lot going for him even at his age...

1) Okay the Portugese League isn't much cop- though a 5-0 win vs Benfica in an unbeaten season was notable.
2) He won the Europa League. Not top tier but not the worst despite what fans of certain clubs may think. Notable results include a 5-1 vs Villareal and beating Spartak 10-3 on agg- trips to Moscow aren't all that easy, scoring 5 there less so.

It's more the managerial style and background though that interests me:

1) His preparation for and analysis of opposition is incredible. Utterly meticulous and that counts for a lot at the top level when evenly matched sides will be facing off.
2) Like Mourinho, has enjoyed excellent early success with Porto. They would have given most a game in the CL with at the helm I'd suggest. Good players too.
3) Managed US Virgin Islands age 21, worked under Sir Bobby and of course Mourinho himself so will have learnt a lot.

He's not Mourinho mk.2 though. For a start, he's never managed in the CL and his style of play is more attack minded. Lightweight? Maybe now, but don't be surprised if he has a very successful career in years to come. Inexperience also makes it a huge gamble but I think he has whatg it takes to be a top manager down the line- however that isn't good enough for Abramovich.

Im not dismissing him as lightweight, but chelseas changing room is notorioiusly strong willed and full of hot heads, only jose, carlo and guss have been able to contain it and help it prosper.

For a 33 year old to follow in there 3 footsteps will be a incredible feat, best of luck to him but he is going to need it

It's not the CL but Blackburn and arguably Man City historically speaking are not as big as Porto. Hell, if we measure by European Cups then neither are Chelsea.

Hiddink was in the frame but if they couldn't get him why not go for another big name? Hands up anyone on here who had heard of this bloke two weeks ago.

Well yes, Hiddink would have been a better choice I'm sure. He (Villa-Boas) is incredibly inexperienced and this would surely be a major concern- maybe Abramovich wants to build something for the long term, but then this would go against absolutely everything he's done at Chelsea to date. This though is a once great Chelsea side surely in need of a fair amount of regeneration- so an up and coming manager may be the one to fit the bill if this is Abramovich's line of thinking.

As for your final point though, well yeah followers of European football would surely have heard of him. A good article on what he would bring to the table...
