Yeah, just seen it on the news. 25 minute suspension in play due to fireworks being set off.... one of the explosions was pretty large, and I guess could have really hurt someone if landed in the right place.

I hope UEFA throw the book at Union Berlin, because its absolutely out of order to do that. The team win a match down to ten men digging deep for the badge... the fans insult that by acting like hooligans.

AFC Crewe from the 14th tier of English football have offered Ronaldo the chance to join them as their highest paid player on £35 a week

so that's nice for the old fella.... he's not necessarily on the scrap heap just yet. He might even do well in that league

I've always said that any young player should look at what Ronaldo has achieved in his career in the way he's looked after his body, trains and has the mental attitude to succeed but his recent moaning has tainted some of his legacy.

Yeah. I remember Alex Ferguson saying that when he signed for United, he embarrassed most of the team with how hard he worked. He said once that he got a call very late at night from the security guard at Carrington, because Ronaldo had stayed after training for 12 hours to practice free-kicks on his own, and the security guards wanted to go home and shut the centre, but Ronaldo wouldn't leave. Fergie had to go and drag him out.

His dedication is the reason he made it so well. You know he must work hard, because even Roy Keane can't slag him off.

the winker turned down £305mill in the summer to play for some side in the Saudi league and become the highest paid player in world football. He turned it down, presumably thinking some big clubs would come in for him.... only they didn't.... because he's a d1ck, because he's a primadonna amd because he's now just a disruptive and destabilising influence in the dressing room. So now he's been packed up and shipped out, it seems the only offer on the table for him, despite the best efforts of the media baselessly linking him with Newcastle and Chelsea, is a £210mill deal with a different club in the Saudi league.... ain't that a shame

Ronaldo certainly worked hard and was an extremely good player, but that didn't mean he wasn't also an arrogant, unlikeable so and so. Good, but my word, doesn't he just know it.

Also I think there's a large contingent of (non-Manchester United) supporting England fans that never forgave him for his part in Rooney's sending off in 2006, just like they never forgave Maradona for the Hand of God. Of course, Rooney did stamp on a player, right in front of the referee, then start shoving the Portugal players when they protested, so ultimately he had himself to blame, but there was quite the sense of Portugese gamesmanship by deliberately winding Rooney up.

Never liked him, and for me his undoubted skill on the football field has always been somewhat tarnished by his attitude, and it's just got far worse.

I think that is quite a harsh assessment. Ok, he has spent large parts of his career playing up to the TV cameras and attention seeking now and then on the field; but that's just part of the spectacle. Until his recent ill-advised lashing of United, he has been an inspiration to the world of sport. Everyone who played with him cannot fault him in the dressing room, and he has set the standard for modern footballers aspire to in terms of working and fitness levels.

I can forgive him a little external arrogance, because its part of his brand. One only has to compare how much money he makes off marketing himself to a Messi, to see that there is a certain allure in his public persona, when compared to someone who is as silent and withdrawn as a superstar sportsman gets.

I dont really care about the arrogance if it doesnt transfer to bad things off the pitch. He donates a lot of money to good causes, something that he doesn't advertise at all, nor like to talk about. Goes out of his way to sign autograph for kids (even Messi's little boy, who was too shy to approach him at an awards ceremony).

I get the feeling he is kindhearted, warm guy. His public persona is not who he is.

when the camera went past all the players lining up as fast as poss, before lingering excessively in front of the knobhead, I half expected him to start tugging himself off, he loves it that much.

He does give a lot of money away to charity, but didn't he also get into trouble for avoiding tax (like everyone who plays in Spain), so maybe he just gave away the Spanish govt's money instead of his own


and I know I'm being completely churlish, but I really don't like the man. If I never saw him again, it would be too soon for my liking
