Conference side Darlington FC have sacked their manager and all their players. They are desperate for money and they look like they could be gone soon.

They have until noon tomorrow to come up with a rescue package but even if they are rescued I don't know how long they will survive. Their manager will go in today to oversee the youth team so I presume that if none of the sacked players will play as volunteers then the youth side will be playing as the first team on saturday.

There's a meeting between a rescue group and the administartor in about 15 mins. They're willing to put forward 50k. A supporter abroad has come out saying he'll put forward 150k. Drama!

How is that going to work though. Houghton cried off last night saying there was more than £1.2m debt tied up in the club. It may keep them going for a couple of weeks but it's only going to delay the inevitable I feel.

It's scandalous the way the club has been run over the last few years but for me the buck stops with GR. His big ideas have crippled the club.

Encouraging news for Darlington, normally stays of execution leads to something more promising.

Are there any other sports grounds in Darlington where the football team can play temporarily?

It might be worth the going back to Feethams but it'll need a lot of work as the ground is now overgrown with weeds but if enough supporters put some work in, anything is possible.
