Just heard.

Can't believe it, was a tough tackling defensive midfielder.

Remember his only goal was a stunner for Newcastle against Arsenal to make it 4-4 after being 4-0 down. The game was on sky sports a week or so ago.

England U20s have reached the World Cup Final.

The first time since 1966 that an England team at any level has reached a WC final. Surprised me that statistic. I thought we'd reached at least one at non-senior level in the past.

Gary Monk has been appointed Middlesborough manager...good fit IMO...Monk decent manager, needs time to build a squad, and usually Gibson is a very patient chairman and gives his managers time, good move all-round.

Last time it happened to the u20s team they ran into a Germany side in about 2008/09 final of the Euros...a side that contained about 7 future adult world cup winners (ozil, neuer, hummels, khediera, schurrle to name a few) ....

They were annihilated 4 or 5 nil

latest idea to fix football... 30 minute halves with the clock being stopped whenever the ball goes out of play

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40311889

so a tacit admission that football is robbing the paying spectators blind may lead to rule changes that will......... rob them blind!

I've got a better idea......... 45 minute halves with the clock stopped every time the ball goes out of play

not rocket science

does anyone think that a reduction in the length of the match by a third will lead to a reduction in ticket prices by a third?

Awful proposals, having a stop clock for minor things ruins the fluidity of the game. What's not to say a player will deliberately feign injury under the coaches orders to pause time and ring in tactical changes?

Crazy idea. It's almost as if Sepp Blatter was still in charge.
