It's just been announced by the CPS that they intent to prosecute Terry, and that he's scheduled to appear in court on February 1....

I would think that Terry should relinquish the captaincy until the trial is completed.

This is big. The papers will no doubt be calling for him to quit the captaincy but Terry is the sort of person who will dig his heels in.

Just read Liverpool's statement and to me it's like something a child would have written. There is obviously more evidence than they are suggesting. Why don't they simply apologize and send a message. I guess Suarez was just horsing around like Gerry Sandusky.

There's got to be a trial first, which is scheduled to take place on Feb 1, I believe, and innocent until proven guilty....

The FA will be relieved that they don't have to play a friendly until the end of Feb, so the trial should be over by then, and they don't have to make any hard decisions until after the trial, if hard decisions are needed.

Probably not sufficient proof for a lip reader.

I'm guessing it wouldn't be allowed as evidence in a court of law.

But England don't play between now and the trial, so I don't think there's any need (unless you're referring to the Chelsea captaincy).

Should he be found guilty however, then he should be stripped of the England captaincy immediately afterwards.

FA should strip him of the captaincy IMO. Too many 'incidents' happen with him.

[quote="Aidan11"]Probably not sufficient proof for a lip reader.

It has been used and though controversial it is becoming more and more used in court. Having said that there is a lot of debate still over it where many just throw it out as hear say. I can't see why it should be so complicated, just get ten lip readers to write what they saw and compare it to what was claimed to be said by Terry and Suarez and to Evra and Ferdinand. How hard can it be to then spot the lie?

Like the Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson trials we seem to have come to a point in evolution where we just can't figure out the truth unless there is a confession or a Hollywood film crew video the crime in 3-D with surround sound.
