Allegations of surarez racially abusing evra in yesterdays game, if he has done this i fully expect a lengthy ban and a heavy fine....

However evra has cried wolf about this before and if the allegations are false i hope he to is banned and recieves a fine

Looks like Tom Daley has some competition there.

Downings theatrics poor very poor, but no worse then we see from other players barca apparently the best team in the world have mascherano, alves and busquets, so i guess its the modern way.

Im not sure when the flash point was DDB but evra said he said it 10 times so i guess the FA and premier league will have to review lots of evidence, but this really needs sorting by monday night we cant have this dragging on through weeks and months.

The problem with this sort of thing is that it's one person's word against another's....

If there are no witnesses, there is no case to prosecute.

I once reported a race hate crime when I was told to go back to Pakistan, and called by an abbreviation of that country, even though I've never been there before.... :?

The police said they couldn't do anything, because I was alone, and nobody was around to hear the racial abuse hurled at me.

Maybe it's best for Evra and Suarez to brush this under the carpet, and move on....

Racism in English football?

John Terry is in the news having allegedly made a racist slur towards Anton Ferdinand.

This came about through social networking sites.

Bit of a shocker for Chelsea. The game was also marred by some chanting about Anton Ferdinand by a section of the crowd.

I thought this needed its own topic, because it's getting out of hand now....
:no
It sounds like the Suarez thing is a cultural issue - it's okay to say certain things in Spain, but not in England or France.

Terry, though, should know better, and the fact that Anton has filed a complaint with the PFA seems ominous....

Ferguson has expressed his disappointment, adding that he thought British football had moved on from those dark days, and I share that disappointment. The chanting of the Chelsea fans shows that it's not just a problem with one or two players, but involves a swathe of so-called football fans as well. Given that Chelsea fans are in the habit of making hissing sounds to imitate gas chambers whenever they play Tottenham, strikes me as extremely poor behaviour of fans who want to make mileage out of Spurs' Jewish origins.

There are still other bad things going on from rival fans. Man Utd get occasional taunts about Munich, Liverpool get Hillsborough taunts.

Football has no place for this sort of thing and it's sad than a minority do try to get rival fans going with things like this. I can't see it ever changing.

The FA has today charged Liverpool’s Luis Suarez following an incident that occurred during the Liverpool versus Manchester United fixture at Anfield on 15 October 2011.

It is alleged that Suarez used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Manchester United’s Patrice Evra contrary to FA rules.

It is further alleged that this included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Patrice Evra.

The FA will issue no further comment at this time.

:clap Now onto Terry...

This is a very scary statement from the head of football.

If this is true, he really should lose his job, disgraceful

One down, one to go.

yuppie, I read the article and the comments are indeed shocking. However, he will never lose his job unless he wants to. Also, I find it a bit disappointing that the BBC could not find a white person to react upon the statement.

Impressed by the way Blatter says racism isnt a problem at the same time Suarez is charged with racism.

How come this Terry-Ferdinand spat is still going on?

btw
I do believe Terry said what Anton suggested but IMO this doesn't necessarily make him a racist.

gotta agree with ginger here

i hope this isn't taken in the wrong context but i think sometimes we get a bit sensitive about what is really just name calling rather than racism
