SP has more or less answered the topic question.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

This sort of racism is even worse because it is premeditated. I can't imagine the individual concerned had it in his packed lunch which he brought with him to the game.

Was watching this on telly and I couldn't believe it, first the banana and then Alves' reaction. Hero! Villareal have said the individual who threw it has received a life ban from El Madrigal.

Its a tough one, I honestly don't know where I stand on punishments for this sort of thing. The fan involved should be taken to a police station and charged with it, but should the club be sanctioned when they cant really stop it, and have dealt with it? Maybe another issue. I guess do you harshly punish the club to make sure the fans know they hurt not only the person, but their club, and therefore themselves? But then, punishing someone for the actions of a fan, especially when clubs are often pro-anti racism schemes and have acted is a bit like charging a pub for assault when a punter wraps a glass round someone blokes head.

Nice to see the support coming in for Alves. It was a remarkable reaction, poetically summed up just how dumb the idiot was for throwing it.

I don't agree with punishing the club, especially if you mean points deductions.

I know the NBA isn't football, but a great example has been made of LA Clippers owner receiving a life time ban as well as a 2.5 million dollar fine and they are going to try and force the sale of the team.

the LA Clippers one seems a bit dramatic, he made a ridiculously stupid remark in private, I hope he appeals the 2.5mil fine, because thats pathetic.

On the contrary, I also applaud the action taken against Sterling and the Clippers....

Is it just me, or does the fact his girlfriend released the audio make it sound very dodgy.

The guys lover is hanging around with Magic Johnson, something that Sterling didn't like and specifically mentions in the audio clip, even inferring that them being together leaves questions that he has to answer for in the press.....the lover then records him slagging Magic off using some unsavoury terms, gets forced to sell his club, and who should come out and say "hey, Id love to buy the clippers.... no doubt now at a cut price on their original value"??? Magic Johnson.....

So Magic is showing his girlfriend a lot of attention, the girlfriend inexplicably records a private conversation and leaks it to the press, leading to his downfall and the sale to a person who seems to be very close to the protagonist?

As Donald Trump says, this is dodgy as hell.

For sure it has dodgyness written all over it, and I see this entire saga going beyond the NBA. Stirling obviously has a history of racism and has gotten away with a hell of a lot in the past and I think he's likely been set up here to try and set the record straight, but he is a crazy old fool and you reap what you sow.

If he has been set up though I have to say two wrongs don't make a right.

Malky Mackay's texts, including that last one to Cardiff staff....

'Fkn chinkys. Fk it. There's enough dogs in Cardiff for us all to go around.'
On the arrival of South Korean international Kim Bo-Kyung
'Go on, fat Phil. Nothing like a Jew that sees money slipping through his fingers'
On football agent Phil Smith
'He's a snake, a gay snake. Not to be trusted'
On an official of another club
'Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering.'
On a list of potential signings
'I hope she's looking after your needs. I bet you'd love a bounce on her falsies.'
On a player's female agent
A picture entitled Black Monopoly (where every square was a "Go to Jail" square)
Sent to members of Cardiff's staff

This is what happens when every manager in the 92 clubs from the Premier League down to the second division is white....

There is a need for positive discrimination, to get the faces of the managers to reflect the faces of the players. There is a need for more black managers, because if there were more black managers around, people like Malkie will be less likely to do this offensive rubbish. If the LMA had any black managers in their ranks, there's no way they would've tried to defend this, and then they wouldn't have to apologise.

Then there's the homophobia, the sexism, etc...English football has a lot to address.
