What i have found surprising about Blatters comments is how little media attention this has got outside the UK.

Is this because of the Terry situation in the UK and it is a relevant issue, or is it because the UK has blown it out of proportion?

For me i certainly dont think the UK has, if anything i am more suprissed by how little media attention this is getting outside of the UK. I think the FA is tackling racism head on and what they are doing is the right thing(i dont think much of the FA but i think they have this right), but it appears that they are in a minority.

And i must say, that is a scary thought.

Reading between the lines of Blatters comments, what he means by no racism in football is matches are played as normal regardless of colour and creed. It's not as if football matches are abandoned/boycotted or reports of football clubs and authorities suffering from problems internally due to racial differences.

It's a sad state of affairs to use racial language to get one over an opponent, using racial language in Rugby League can result in a banning for 6 months. The only way to successfully stomp out of racism is for footballing authorities to promote spirit of the game and severely punish on every aspect of gamesmanship - be it shirt tugging, diving, spitting, swearing, violent conduct, time wasting, intimidating match officials as well as racism.

He keeps on getting voted in. If he's happy then he will be there for a while yet.

I played a game once against a team full of black players, who gave nothing but racial abuse to me, all within earshot of the referee who did nothing. Now if I had of been making racist remarks, do you think I would of gone unpunished ??

The racism rules/laws are messed up as it is, white people abusing black people is racist and wrong, whilst black people abusing white people is "banter" and should be ignored ?

Racism is racism, IMHO, regardless of the recipient. If white people are subjected to racist taunts, then it should be treated as racism....

Suarez has apparently admitted to using the word 'negro' in taunting Evra, but is it a cultural issue?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16262537.stm

It might be acceptable in Uruguay and Hispanic countries, but not in England and France, so should Suarez be punished for failing to realise that what's acceptable in one country is not acceptable in another?

Yes, he should abide by our laws.

Any news on John Terry or will his alleged racist remark be washed under the bridge?

I dont know what happened to the JT case in the end. I don't think they ever got to the bottom of it and just moved onto the Suarez case.
