Smith averaging 180 for the series and 62.3 for his career, 74.7 at home.

Time to try Bodyline?

Maybe kryptonite might work...maybe.

Well done, Mitch. I always knew he would come good.

Well done MM. Debut Test ton.

I presume Australia will want a huge lead (300? weather permitted) to put pressure on England on a good batting track.

Not many bowling averages being enhanced for the tourists.

200 for Smith. Amazing effort.

And over 200 partnership.

Marshes showing up the background anti-Marsh antagonism among Aussie supporters. One in the eye for selector-bashers.

Wonder if there's a case for Australia not batting England out the game to manipulate the tourist's need to chase a win?

A draw is ok for the hosts of course, but there's the traditional 5-0 to think of.

Amazingly, Root gets to fifty as frequently as Smith, but the latter's conversion rate is phenomenal for anyone other than Bradman. He converts every other fifty (and that's not taking into account unbeaten fifties). Root is pushing one in three.

Got to say every selection has worked out well so far. Fair play to the Aussie selectors.

Well played M Marsh, perhaps he can become Australias Ben Stokes.....without the problems

Apparently you need that self destructive fire and shouldn't coach it out of players.
