Not sure I agree tbh. I have always thought that assuming runs get on the board at a pretty high rate in this case, is a pretty wide assumption. The team batting has "resources" or wickets left, but trying to score more runs means you lose that resource. It never made sense that you can assume one team would score more runs than another in the same overs.

The only thing you can say is SA scored 281 from 43 overs.... that should be the target

cant agree with that today , SA were going along at 10-12 runs per over when the rain came and were looking at getting 350 if they had batted the full 50 overs

also when a game is reduced in the situation it was the team batting first would be at a massive disadvantage given they didn't know they only had 43 overs to bat with their 10 wickets in hand when they started, whereas the team batting second do so can take more chances right from the start knowing its a shorter game
