i'm beginning to wonder if india will even win a game or whether they should just go home now after reading shank's posts

maybe they should just give up cricket altogether if they are that hopeless

Looks to me that Shanky and Arthur are going head-to-head in an underdogathon.

In what promises to be a gruelling and rugged match, Shanky has the early running due to using on facts, whereas Arthur is relying on good old fashioned conjecture.

If it's about anyone can beat anyone (which is true) it's still possible to say some teams are more likely to be below their best and still win (this bit is conjecture). Say, Australia can afford to be 20% below par and still beat England. SA and NZ can afford to be 15% down and win. India 10%. England can win, but it doesn't make much sense to predict it.

These are warm up games for India. They didn't beat Leicestershire either. India don't do warm ups. They are my best best to join SA, NZ, Aus in the semis though.

But, to look on the bright side, I reckon England will make the last eight now. That didn't feel a sure thing two months ago.

England winning the world cup feels to me analogous to the idea of eternal life. There's no way I can prove to you that it can't happen, but neither is there any particular reason why we should be considering it in the first place.

Another excellent bowling performance, but, gosh did we make hard work of a simple chase. Taylor is rather rapidly showing how daft it has been to leave him on the sidelines for so long.

Surely his ODI performances must have put him next in line for a Test spot.

Still need to see England chase down a big total before I can commit to the idea that they might not be rubbish.

I am not too worried about our teams batting if Rohit is fully fit and we get the Rohit-Ajinkya combo at the top. Then Virat is one who can come to form any time in this format. Raina and Dhoni are top class ODI players who can pace their innings as good as others. The concern is about the bowling. There is no world class pace bowler who can bowl a consistent line and length and the two spinners. Unlike batsmen, the bowling attack might not get in form.

They didn't in 2007. They won the Commonwealth Bank Series between Australia, England and New Zealand. Two Finals were between England and Australia. England won both - after losing the Ashes 5-0. Collingwood and Bell partnership starred in the "First Final" with a win and Colly starred with a cameo role from Flintoff in the "Second Final". Comprehensive win. Australia bowled out in second innings for 152.
