His career average in List A cricket is 48.58. That's the 13th highest of all time. You obviously have high expectations.

I was referring more to his first class cricket. Anyways, the point stands. There is no point in going to a 35 year old when there is enough young talent around.

because of the big bash, the teams are not that great anyway, doubt the Indian care too much with it only being a limited over tour.
I believe the warm up games were arranged last minute anyway.
India plays t20 today, Odi tomorrow and the real game starts on Tuesday.

Warm up games will be great for the new/younger players but then again the entire tour is a warm up for them.
the whole point of the selectors picking new/younger players was to try them in new conditions.

Be interesting to see how the likes of rishi Dhawan, Gurkeerat singh mann, pandey, Balrinder sran.
with india sending a small squad those 4 should get some games under the belt.

According to reports, Shami is struggling with a hamstring injury. If he is ruled out, Bumrah might replace him.

Rogers was picked to bolster a struggling Test side in 2013 especially given his vast experience in English conditions and his excellent first class record. Voges' selection was in less adverse circumstances but still it was the Ashes and they wanted someone with experience in English conditions, so understandable. Again, he had a very good overall FC record and had actually done well in the limited chances he got in the limited overs formats earlier, so was proven vs top bowling. ODI team is not about individual series but building for the big tournaments. The team is not struggling like the Test side and there are enough quality young limited overs batsmen in the reserves not to hand out a first cap to a 35 year old.

Chappell making good points.
Australia are rightly favorites and yes Australia should have included Pattinson so Australia can have an extra advantage in the bouncy/pacier WACA and Gabba wickets.

Although looking at the squad it is clear both teams are not actually trying to win the series but looking at the future, no point playing pattinson if he not fit, Also india wanna give the young players a go in the side and essentially don't care if any of them fail in the match, won't make any change till the end of series.
but this make Aus clear favorites.
Considering the expected line up is.
Dhawan
Rohit
Kohli
Rahane
pandey
Dhoni
Jadeja/Axar patel
Ashwin
Ishant Sharma
2 of BB Sran, Umesh Yadav and Rishi Dhawan

With Gurekeerat singh man,Rishi Dhawan, Jadeja, Ashwin and axar patel the only other batsman available in the squad, also disagree with the claim india has no all rounder in this tour considering india have selected 5 all rounders but I will let him off for that since barring the spin twins none of them have hardly played games for india or looked like an all rounder cough A Patel.
And essentially no one knows if Rishi Dhawan, Gurekeerat singh mann are fit or good enough to play for india.
Rishi dhawan should be happy since he will be guaranteed at least 3 games looking at that squad, maybe all 5 if he does well.

Why would you select Bhuvi? On those tracks with even bounce, he will be smacked around. I would have gone for Bumrah.

A tv ad for the cricket this summer;

"Hey, doll. Could you scare up another round for our table over here? And tell the cook this is low grade dog food. I've had better food at the ballgame, you know? This steak still has marks from where the jockey was hitting it." Al Czervik, aka Rodney Dangerfield in "Caddyshack" (1980)

It seems Gurinder Sandhu was picked, over the off season, as the next big thing and he has featured in a whole pile of promotional material. It's a pity that he hasn't come through like expected. Still time, but not this season, by the looks.

Australian selectors have categorically stated that Pattinson is not in the scheme of things for limited overs cricket right now. Too expensive. And I agree. Even in Tests, he is not quite at the level he was on his debut in 2011. Would rather let him focus on that. He wasn't a great ODI bowler even in 2011, needs more control and variations. As of now, I'd prefer for him to just focus on Tests.

rapid start for India - 28 off the first 4 overs. Sharma is looking scary - and lucky, which adds to this.

Australia's attack is looking very green. Only Hazlewood has shown some control.
