Judging on whats been written about it, Robbo was brought up to Yorkshire by his stepdad Paul Farbrace when the latter moved from Kent, but being related to the assistant gaffer didnt help him make many friends in the dressing room, and when Fabrace was appointed to the England setup he became a bit of a loose cannon. Some rumours of drinking, turning up late for matches and refusing to travel with the team.

Dizzy ended up sacking him, but definitely had a heavy heart about it... Yorkshire thought very highly of him as a player, but knew he hadnt settled and needed to move on. Ironically, Dizzy ended up inheriting him at Sussex and turned him into the demon he is now. Not heard anything bad about his character since coming back to the SE coast.

Specifically remember AP saying when we signed him that we had signed a top, top player.

Bit of nerves first up with a no ball.

Ollie gets Conway driving, but the edge falls past 3rd slip. Keep chipping lad, it will come with bowling like that.

Conway definitely has an itchy trigger finger. Gone after a couple that havent been full enough to drive. So far he's gotten away with it

Good start for NZ though. The last thing England want is a sizeable 1st partnership with the quality to come after.

:joydance Get in there Robbo!

Classic Robbo wicket. Was saying the other week on the county thread he gets so many batsman chopping down their own stumps, and he's done it again.

Robinson off the mark.

Next over he beats Kane twice. Good stuff now he's settled.

Decent wicket first up to get Latham.

England going for runs though, 3.5 an over.

Wood has bowled with plenty of pace, but its way too telegraphed. Everything digged in short... Conway has looked a tad loose to the fuller stuff, so it all seems wasted effort so far. Surprise him with the short ball, dont bang everything in short.

Does finally pitch it up, and Williamson edges that behind square after making an error. Its not going to hand, but thats more the length he needs.

Last ball came out at 96mph from Wood... At this rate he will be injured by the afternoon sessoin.

Search for fastest spell by an England bowler found a claim by online news site it was Flintoff v Aus in 2009 at Edgbaston. 91.5. Harmison gets four entries in the top ten, three for Finn, two for Flintoff and one for Archer.

Well I have to go get stabbed in the arm, so hopefully on my return England have the Kiwi's all out.

England will be glad to be rid of Latham, KW and Taylor for around 50.

I see Root has had an over already...

Time for NZ to cash in.

I presume that's tea at the end of the over. Conway 70* at Lord's on his debut. Great day for him. I'm guessing this game is evenly poised.

England managed to quieten the RR in that session. Under 3/over now.
