SA are going to take the lead again but it's a question of how big a lead it will be.

I think it could be at least 100 with ABD & van Zyl looking set.

Bavuma struggled to judge the line and length and finally succumbed while trying to leave one which came in unlike the previous ball, onyl to find the inside edge onto the stumps. Needs to leave more deliveries on the off side than he tried to play by pushing at it with hard grip.

Bavuma has no place in a Test side.

im sorry but Shannon Gabriel is awful..... dosen't offer any control, looks seriously in-effective and has looked down on pace...Jason Holder has looked more effective and he's bowling at 75mph!

I guess it works both ways....

Holder and Benn combine to run out Philander without scoring.

He profits from the fact that bowlers very rarely bowl to him well. Break down his game, and you find he isnt that great at defending his stumps. I would hazard a guess that his dismissal ratio to bowled or LBW would be exceedingly high, possibly one of the highest of players who have played that many tests, and also incredibly high for batsman who could be considered a great player.

Interestingly, before people knew him they just bowled at his stumps and he struggled. Since he has shown he likes to play shots, and is a demon stroke maker (arguably, the best in living memory of any player who attacks the ball), bowlers have stupidly thought they can get him out caught, and his career has taken off.

I dont think ABDV would have survived had his career begun 10 years before in an era of better fast bowling. I think he also struggles at times with spinners, who really attack him and dont just bowl flatter to negate him.

Taylor gets his first wicket of the innings, but not before the Saffers pass 400...again.
