WI tour of Australia, Dec 2 - Jan 7

I remember when England used to have long tours of Australia, before they played the Test, they played the state side that the Test was in, and they would play a 'country xi' a team of players below first class status, out on a ground in a smaller town. Geelong sticks in my mind, for some reason.

I really don't see the point of a two-day game...why couldn't it have been three days?

half-centuries by Kraigg and Blackwood, and a 40-odd from Samuels, but not much else. Carlos and Shai failed with the bat.

Unsurprisingly, that two-day match didn't accomplish much....a greenhorn named Hancock scored more than any WI batsman, and there were two wickets for Bishoo, and one for Roach. Warrican and Carlos finished wicketless...no questions answered for the Boxing Day Test.

We could've used a third day....

Strange decision, imo.

Jackson Bird, in fine form this season, was a test bowler until injured. Andrew Fekete was picked for the Bangers tour, but it's cancellation cost him any chance at a Baggy Green, it seems.

Meanwhile, Boland takes a mere 6 wickets in 6 innings, but in his last match gets a 7-for to be a bolter for the squad. Selectors rewarding inconsistency?

Is this due to the selectors wanting more pace? This could well backfire in New Zealand. Swing, tight lines, control, will be the order of the day there.

Wow...Australia drop the guy who scored more in one innings than the entire West Indies scored in their second innings.

The right decision, imo. He was brought in to cover for an injured batsman, and he did that well. Injured batsman has recovered, and no other player deserves to be dropped, so it must be Marsh that makes way.

I heard 50000 will be here. Not as good as other years, but pretty astonishing, especially as the game is effectively a dead rubber.
