Looking ahead , for Australia : Agar was a somewhat controversial selection for the event (in my view anyway) ; and his disastrous over early today has given Smith a problem with how to use him in future. Incidentally I question why Zampa bowled just one over today ?

Looks as if spin will be key in this tournament (perhaps less in late games affected by dew) so handling these fellows will be important.

Khawaja justified his selection over Finch , though I am unconvinced by the Warner at four gambit. In truth the captain looks the odd one out at three in this format - but he will probably hit 120 next match now I've said that

As the game progressed, I was didappointed that Smith came in ahead of Warner - there were still almost 2 overs of the powerplay to go, where Warner would probably have done better than Smith, and conversely, Smith would have done far better in the middle overs when placement and reading the field are much more important. The strengths of both players were ignored - for conformity??

I dont think it's possible to justify not selecting the number 1 T20 international batsmen

Someone who has 5 30+ scores in his last 6 games and has a career strike rate over 150 and averages close to 40

I'd go even further. Wee Davey should be opening with Khawaja. Warner is the type of player who likes to take the bowlers on with the field up. He has never struck me as the kind of player to work the ball around when the spinners come on. Twatto is much more the fiddling around type
