Did he touch it. I don't think he did, umpire didn't think he did, Jos didn't think he did. India did.... but have no reviews left to find out

Without knowing, I'd guess that Jos is probably a walker

it always tickles me when ex cricketers talk about DRS. They seem to think that if the graphic shows the ball just shaving the edge of a wicket then it must have been out, regardless of what the umpire thought. I think they are trying to find ways whereby in a just world India would have still had a review left with which to check the Buttler feather. It's much more simple than that.... don't make spurious reviews out of desperation, just because it's the opposition captain and he's creaming you to all parts

anyway.... they've got Buttler now and they didn't need a change in the laws of cricket to do it, he just shouldered arms to a ball hitting top of off

Archer goes first ball, neck and crop, and Ishant is on a hat trick

I watched Ishant yesterday with the new ball and he was a bit hit and miss. He's been terrific in this latest spell. I'm assuming India are still using the old ball. I didn't notice them take the new ball

England make it to the end of day 2 without too many alarms after the last 2 wickets fell. Bess and Leach looked solid enough and they quickly worked out that Leach was comfortable against spin and so Bess concentrated on negotiating the seamers. Despite the clutch of wickets in the final session, England still maintained the scoring rate of 90+ runs each session

Back out in the morning and wear the India players and the pitch down a bit more. Pitch is getting a bit more interesting, but all the India top 7 average in the 40's or 50's so England will have to bowl well....... although they have given themselves the best chance of winning the game

Archer should be batting at eleven. He must be setting England batting records.

Good effort by Bess in what is a big leap up in class from SL, in alien conditions. I suppose the hosts were pretty tired and fed up by then though.
I always say that everybody's right.

Another good day's work , even if they did rather lose their way in the last session. Bess and Leach sensibly took it to the close (with a bit of help from a dreadful drop by Rohit !) after the clatter of wickets ; so they can look to annoy Indua for a few overs tomorrow and give their openers no time to prepare.
Regret I wasn't able to see the Stokes innings - he did exactly what I'd been hoping. And of course Root is making the most of a magic run of form...three excellent innings on the trot :clap

Pitch showing signs of offering the bowlers a bit more now ; so if they can put in a good shift with the ball tomorrow a win isn't out of the question. Going to be hard work though given the strength of the Indian top six.

All in all one could hardly have asked for a better first two days on a tour of India . The trick will be keeping it going...

he should indeed. he has never failed to leave me unimpressed with bat in hand...... although that might be because it spends more of its time tucked under his arm as he trudges off, than in his hand

The list of names that Root is joining with his run of form, especially in Asia, is a list of some of the all-time greats of the game.

Perhaps too gushing as far as some of the commentary has been. But after a lean trot, he's reclaiming his place in the fab four.

Great effort by England to get a huge score. After last time in Chennai, (and Adelaide 2005), I still can't feel completely safe. Can England take 20 Indian wickets? Going to be tough. But if they can get India out for anything less than 400, they should have a very good chance of going 1-0 up. :salute
