Great to see. I really see a lot of talent in this lad, hopefully this Kickstarts his career
He struggled one year or so because of injury. Once he recovered post surgery, he is doing what was expected from him. I think his career has already kickstarted few months back.As i mentioned in another thread, i feel he will be core member of the team by next year. He is almost there or getting there quicker than i anticipated due to numerous factors playing out in Indian cricket. But with Indian selectors and Rahul Dravid who has made some selection blunders you never know. There is tremendous hope from a fit Shubman Gill given the talent he has and can have long good patches like top class batsmen.
He played some county matches last year. With Prithvi Shaw having gone through injury and off-field issues, Shubman who was one of the contender for the spot in test batting lineup has grabbed the opportunity. Some day Prithvi Shaw or Yashasvi Jaiswal may be his opening partner in test once Rohit is not there. Chet is also in decline and will vacate one down spot in couple of years. So Shubman is going to stay anyway. I don't think there are other better batsmen than him - Prithvi is another class act purely as a batsman. Yashasvi is another i expect will keep knocking selection doors. Shubman is there to stay for long imo unless for injury or a dramatic decline in runs .
