surprised at that as he didn't have a great year last year and that is one of only two years he has been full-time captain, even 2015 he didn't average 45 in the calendar year so must have a few good innings in the odd games he played as captain before taking over full-time

amazes me that people can be so blinded by his potential that they overlook his performance

Stokes had an excellent 2016 with the bat in ODIs averaging just under 50

He also made 62 off 40 in the first game

TBH isn't that the reason why Sussex hates Stokes.
Stokes isn't a bad cricketer but he does need to start performing consistently at the moment he that all rounder that isn't really sure what he is IE a bowler or batsman.

some of the indian commentators picked that up in the test series that england all round players didn't really know what they were doing in the team and they were basically picked on their secondary skills and not primary skills.

Reckon stokes would be much better when he find what he actually good at IE batting or bowling at the moment he not doing either.
the only series he actually had a good all round series was in Bangladesh.

So he's had a few good games out of the 48 he's played so did Bopara and others.

A hundred and 4 50s in 12 innings is a pretty consistent year for number 5-6 in ODI cricket really

His bowling hasn't been great though
