looks as though the IPL is earlier this year with it being a world cup year. He could back out of it, I suppose, but then he might view 4 rounds of early season county cricket as something unlikely to enhance his test chances

Only two rounds of County Championship cricket to start with in April, followed by the Royal London One Day Cup. England's ODI squad virtually picks itself for the World Cup, Denly has a better chance of making the World Twenty20 squad with an IPL campaign.

county cricket should mostly be played while the football season is on, or there would be a real danger of people turning up to watch something as archaic as county cricket, which simply wouldn't do
